A big slot in San Francisco — a high-volume, short-throw receiver, which is a much better job in full PPR than it sounds.
August 2 10-team update
10-team ADP: 58.5; projection: 206.5 points; model risk: low. No player-specific August 2 exception is recorded in the status ledger. Validate the San Francisco depth chart before treating target share as settled. This block supersedes earlier numeric, risk, and turn language.
The role
He lines up inside, closer to the formation, rather than out on the sideline. That means shorter throws and more of them: a big slot trades yards per catch for catch count. In a league where every reception pays a full point before a yard is gained, that trade is close to neutral — ten catches for 80 yards and four catches for 140 pay the same. He is not the alpha X who draws the opponent's best defender every week; he is the reliable second stream of targets, meaning throws in his direction, counted whether or not he catches them (Fantasy football glossary).
The number
The promoted row projects 206.5 points, 69 catches, and 955 yards. Read the catches as 69 PPR points before yardage, while preserving that this is a forecast and San Francisco target share still needs depth-chart validation.
The risk
His risk column reads low, so the honest framing is not that something specific goes wrong — it is that this is a projection of a target share, and target shares are a coaching and game-script outcome, not a property of the player. San Francisco also rosters a three-down bell cow at running back (Christian McCaffrey) whose catches come out of the same passing budget, so his volume is competing with a back's, not just another receiver's. See The conserved team touch budget. Health belongs in that framing too: he has played 39 of a possible 51 games since 2023 and only 8 last season, so a 17-game projection at 33 assumes a season he has not had in three years — see Availability and injury risk.
The context
He is 33.1 on opening day, twelve seasons in, taken seventh overall in 2014 — by Tampa Bay, not San Francisco, and draft capital does not follow a player to a new team (Draft capital dominance). He played 17 games in 2023, 14 in 2024 and 8 in 2025. Seven of those twelve missed weeks the official report listed him Out, naming a hamstring across eight separate weeks and a collarbone twice; the other five absences never reached the report and were not medical. In 2025 he was on the field for 65.6% of San Francisco's offensive snaps (Fantasy football glossary) and drew 62 targets, an 11.5% share, catching 30. The projected 69 catches is more than his entire target count last season. He is paid, at roughly 14 million a year, through 2029.

Open questions
- Is he the clear number-two option in this offense, or the number-three behind the back? His
noteline does not distinguish the two, and they are worth very different amounts. - His ADP is 58.5 (FFCalculator 10-team PPR proxy, not ESPN's own); market price is not valuation.
