Live 10-team decision status — 2026-08-02
10-team decision data: ADP 103.0, projection 290.8 points, risk med. Chargers research records no active injury designation; the scheme/line transition is not enough to change passing or rushing volume.
Source: promoted Data/players.csv and Data/current-status.csv. This section supersedes every older July ADP, projection-source date, risk flag, pick-band/turn, and current-role assertion below. Older explanatory prose remains only as context.
Reading rule: material below this block is historical/model context unless it repeats the promoted values and 10-team baseline above; it is not live draft instruction.
The role
He is a rushing QB: he runs on purpose, not only when a play collapses. That matters because of the scoring table, not the highlight reel — rushing yards pay 0.1 a point per yard and a rushing touchdown pays six against a passing touchdown's four, so a quarterback who runs collects points from a source the pocket passers on the board simply do not have. Quarterback is the flattest position in fantasy football (Fantasy football glossary), and rushing is essentially the only thing that breaks the flatness.
The number
427 rushing yards projected — from the note column of the promoted Data/players.csv (rushing QB; 427 rushing yards projected). It is a projection derived from FFToday's complete stat-line snapshot updated 2026-07-30, not an observation. At 0.1 a yard that is roughly 43 points over a season, about 2.5 a game, on top of everything he does throwing — and it comfortably clears the 350-yard line the archetype note treats as the rushing signal.
The risk
The candidate model flags his risk as med, but the real risk is positional rather than personal: this 10-team, one-QB league compares him to QB10. At ADP 103.0, decide at the live 100/101–120/121 portion of the room only if his edge over QB10 beats the RB/WR/TE alternatives. Nothing in the availability record supports that med flag either: the official injury report has not listed him Out once in three seasons.
The context
He is twenty-eight and a half on the September 9 opener and was the sixth pick of the 2020 draft, by the Chargers — by far the heaviest draft capital in this price band, and the reason his job has never been in doubt. Availability is close to clean: 13 games in 2023, then 17 and 16, forty-six of fifty-one. The report never listed him Out; three weeks Questionable or Doubtful, ankle and hand named, and all five missed games are logged as non-injury absences. In 2025 he played 97 percent of the Chargers' snaps (a snap is one play — Fantasy football glossary) and ran 83 times for 498 yards — more rushing than the 427 the projection gives him, not less. He is by far the highest-paid player here, signed through 2029.
Earlier candidate note — superseded
LAC QB — ADP 103.0; 290.8 points; medium-risk rushing-QB model. No active injury designation; scheme/line transition does not yet change volume.
Provenance: Data/research/candidates/2026-08-02/players.candidate.csv and Data/current-status.csv. Current-status evidence is narrower than the candidate model.
Open questions
- Rushing projections for quarterbacks are the least stable line in any stat file. If the 427 comes down, what is left is an ordinary pocket passer at a premium price.
- His ADP is 103.0 in the reviewed Fantasy Football Calculator PPR 10-team candidate feed, a proxy for ESPN's own ADP. Compare that live price to QB10 and the alternatives at the current turn. See Late-round quarterback.
