Current 10-team snapshot
The promoted Data/players.csv row lists CAR RB, bye 5, ADP 77.8 (ffcalc-ppr-10tm-2026-08-02), 188.5 projected points over 17 games, lead back; not bell cow, and med model risk (217 carries, 34 catches projected). It supersedes the earlier committee label. The canonical ledger accepts that he is healthy and the clear rushing leader, with medium-high role and high health confidence. It also keeps Jonathon Brooks' return risk and preseason usage as gates: do not call Hubbard a bell cow or infer a touch split.
The role
He is modelled as an early-down committee back in Carolina: carries first and second down, without a verified primary receiving role. A carry is a handoff (Fantasy football glossary). The accepted ledger supports “clear rushing leader,” not a quantified share; keep the distinction until preseason usage resolves it.
The number
217 carries projected — from the gated candidate feed dated 2026-08-02 (early-down committee back; 217 carries + 34 catches projected). It is a model projection, not an observation. The accepted ledger supports a clear rushing lead but retains Brooks and preseason usage as gates, so this is not evidence of a bell-cow workload.
The risk
The CSV flags his risk as med — the honest middle. The driver is not a specific rival for the job so much as the fact that this is a projection of a coach's plan: the second Carolina back in the file is projected for real work, and a modest shift in that split at the August 30 roster cutdown moves Hubbard from lead back to true committee without anyone getting hurt. Availability is not the worry here — he has missed four games in three seasons — but the 2025 usage below is, because he has not held the workload the projection assumes.
The context
He is twenty-seven on the September 9 opener, a 2021 fourth-round pick — 126th overall, by Carolina, the team he still plays for. Middling draft capital, but five seasons and a paid extension have settled the question a draft slot would answer. He has been durable: 17 games, then 15 and 15, forty-seven of fifty-one, with two weeks listed Out and two Questionable or Doubtful, calf and knee the only parts named. The 2025 usage is harder. He was on the field for 46.8 percent of Carolina's snaps (a snap is one play — Fantasy football glossary) and took 134 carries — a genuine split, not a lead back with a backup. The 217-carry projection is a bet on a different job, not an extension of that one. He is paid, under contract through 2028.
Open questions
- His bye is week 5, which is early and cheap—check it against the live roster at the relevant 10-team turn. See Bye-week planning.
- His current ADP is 77.8 from the gated Fantasy Football Calculator PPR 10-team candidate feed, a proxy rather than ESPN ADP. Is the market discounting the carries, the receiving uncertainty, or the offense?
