Toronto Raptors

Toronto enters 2026-27 with a top-five defense, unusually deep forwards, and one league-defining uncertainty: its agreed Kawhi Leonard trade is still on hold.

Roster — 18 dossiers

Research cutoff: 2026-07-18, America/New_York. Projections below are Rome model outputs, not published sportsbook lines. Every roster or injury statement is date-stamped because this depth chart can change as soon as the Leonard investigation resolves.

State of the team

Toronto went 46-36, finished fifth in the East and lost a seven-game first-round series in 2025-26. The official NBA team page records 114.6 points per game (21st), 42.1 rebounds (24th), 29.5 assists (third) and 111.8 opponent points (ninth); NBA.com's trade analysis puts the defense fifth at 112.1 points allowed per 100 possessions and the overall net rating at +2.9. Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles are the structural core. Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Brandon Ingram and Jakob Poeltl supplied the established starter minutes. Darko Rajakovic is the head coach, entering year four. Toronto signed him to a multi-year extension on 2026-07-02 — reported as four years added to the single season remaining on his deal — after he improved the club by 16 wins. This matters for the rotation assumptions below rather than only as a personnel note: an extended coach removes hot-seat rotation churn, is affirmative evidence against the tanking branch of the outcome range, and locks in a fourth year of the same deep-rotation, high-passing system. That system is why no Raptor is projected above roughly 34 MPG and why assists are distributed across the roster (Toronto finished third in team assists) rather than concentrated in one initiator. HoopsHype, 2026-07-02 · Hoops Rumors, 2026-07-02

The most important fact is procedural: Toronto and the Clippers agreed to exchange Ingram, Gradey Dick, draft capital and swaps for Kawhi Leonard, but Toronto announced on July 9 that it would wait for the NBA's outside-counsel investigation into possible Clippers cap circumvention. There is no timetable. Therefore Leonard is not treated as a verified Toronto player in this desk, while Ingram and Dick remain in the official-roster baseline. NBA/AP hold report, 2026-07-09

A.J. Lawson G/F Unrestricted free agent Listed by team site but no 2026-27 TOR minutes assumed

Toronto officially signed Anderson and Martin, selected Graves at No. 19 and Bradley at No. 50, and placed Bradley on a two-way deal. Bittle's Exhibit 10 is non-guaranteed. Departures

The additions above are only half the ledger, and the subtractions are the more load-bearing half because they are concentrated in one position group.

Player Date Destination Vacated 2025-26 role
Sandro Mamukelashvili Player option declined 6/29; signed 7/7 Los Angeles Lakers, 4yr/$52M Primary backup big; 11.2 PPG on .389 from three
Jonathan Mogbo Team option ($2,296,271) declined 6/29 Sacramento, two-way Third big, 40 games
Ochai Agbaji Traded 2/2026 Brooklyn, three-team deal Rotation wing; deal ducked the luxury tax
Chris Paul Acquired 2/4/26, waived 2/13/26 Retired None — salary-matching only, never suited up

Mamukelashvili and Mogbo together are the entire backup-big group behind Poeltl and Murray-Boyles walking out the door in a single week. Toronto replaced them with one veteran-minimum signing (Anderson) and an Exhibit 10 (Bittle). That is the affirmative case for the raised Murray-Boyles, Anderson and Jackson-Davis minutes in the projection board below, and it is why small-ball frontcourts are likelier to increase than decrease. This is a functional rather than positional chart: Barnes initiates, Murray-Boyles closes at center, Barrett slides between wing slots, and Anderson can cover every frontcourt role. Toronto's biggest strengths are switchable defense, playmaking across positions and transition creation. Its pressure points are half-court shooting, defensive rebounding, Poeltl's mobility, and too many rotation-caliber forwards for the available minutes. NBA.com noted Toronto ranked third in transition points but had the league's second-worst late-clock effective field-goal percentage; it also reported Murray-Boyles played 191 playoff minutes to Poeltl's 134. The minutes split is the weaker half of that evidence; the production is the stronger half. Across the seven games against Cleveland, Murray-Boyles averaged 27.3 minutes, 14.4 points on .656 shooting, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks, and he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team — the first Raptor so honoured since Barnes in 2021-22. His per-minute rates did not degrade at the larger role; they improved. NBA.com analysis, 2026-07-01 · CP24 — All-Rookie Second Team, 2026-05-21

Exact 240-minute allocation — official roster today

This is a healthy-night rotation, not a season-average promise. Each positional column totals 48 and the player totals sum to 240.

Position Allocation Total
PG Quickley 32, Shead 16 48
SG Barrett 20, Walter 19, Dick 9 48
SF Ingram 33, Barrett 11, Graves 4 48
PF Barnes 34, Murray-Boyles 10, Graves 4 48
C Poeltl 24, Murray-Boyles 16, Anderson 5, Jackson-Davis 3 48
All positions 32 + 16 + 31 + 19 + 9 + 33 + 8 + 34 + 26 + 24 + 5 + 3 240

Outside the healthy-night 12: Battle, Martin, Bradley, Hepburn, Bittle and Lawson. They receive season appearances through injuries, rest, development and transactions, which is why individual GP/MPG projections in the dossiers need not equal this single-game chart.

Exact 240-minute allocation — only if the Leonard trade closes

This conditional chart removes Ingram and Dick and adds Leonard. It does not assert that the trade has completed.

Position Allocation Total
PG Quickley 31, Shead 17 48
SG Barrett 24, Walter 19, Graves 5 48
SF Leonard 32, Barrett 7, Graves 9 48
PF Barnes 34, Murray-Boyles 14 48
C Poeltl 24, Murray-Boyles 12, Anderson 8, Jackson-Davis 4 48
All positions 31 + 17 + 31 + 19 + 14 + 32 + 34 + 26 + 24 + 8 + 4 240

Leonard absences would push Barrett/Barnes usage up and open wing minutes for Walter, Graves, Battle and Anderson. The trade would lower Barnes's scoring ceiling slightly but improve lineup efficiency; Ingram and Dick would cease to be Toronto assets.

Correction 2026-07-18: the board previously left the season un-budgeted. An 82-game season is 82 × 240 = 19,680 team-minutes; the prior GP × MPG column summed to only 16,948, leaving 2,732 minutes (13.9%, more than a full 33-MPG starter's season) credited to nobody. The error was structural rather than clerical: every rotation player was given his healthy-night minutes and a games-missed haircut, with no one absorbing the vacated time. The 2,732 minutes have been redistributed to the players who actually absorb absences — Murray-Boyles 26.0→29.0, Shead 16.0→21.0, Walter 19.0→22.0, Graves 8.0→14.0, Anderson 5.0→12.0, Jackson-Davis 3.0→8.0, Dick 9.0→12.0, Battle 5.0→12.0, Martin 5.0→10.0, Bradley 4.0→9.0, Hepburn 4.0→9.0, Bittle 3.0→9.0 — and the counting stats and Simple FP re-derived at the new minute loads. The column now sums to exactly 19,680. Starter minutes were deliberately left untouched: under Rajakovic's deep rotation the absorption happens on the bench, not by extending Barnes or Quickley.

The frontcourt share of that redistribution is not arbitrary. Mamukelashvili and Mogbo both left in the last week of June, so Anderson and Jackson-Davis are now the only healthy bigs behind Poeltl and Murray-Boyles. A veteran-minimum signing on a team that just lost its entire backup-big group does not average five minutes across 60 appearances; that combination is not a real NBA rotation shape. Anderson averaged 19.8 MPG across 43 games in 2025-26 and Jackson-Davis 9.4 across 53, which brackets the new figures from above and below. Hoops Rumors — Anderson one-year deal, 2026-07

Note that a bench player's season MPG legitimately exceeds his healthy-night allocation above: the healthy-night chart is the rotation when all twelve are available, while the season average blends those nights with the games in which starters sit. That gap is the mechanism, not a contradiction between the two tables.

Redraft and dynasty ordering

Tier Nine-category redraft Points redraft Dynasty
Anchor Barnes (top 15-25) Barnes (top 20-30) Barnes (top 12-20)
Standard-league Quickley (45-70), Murray-Boyles (70-100), Ingram (55-75) Ingram/Quickley/Murray-Boyles (roughly 50-90) Quickley, Murray-Boyles, Ingram, Barrett
Build-dependent Poeltl (80-110), Barrett (100-130) Barrett, Poeltl Walter, Graves, Dick after the top five
Stream / deep Shead for assists, Walter for steals/3s Shead/Walter Bradley, Shead, Battle, Martin, Bittle, Hepburn

Correction 2026-07-18: Murray-Boyles moves from the Build-dependent tier to Standard-league, and his projection from 26.0 MPG / 10.2 PTS / 6.2 REB to 29.0 / 12.5 / 7.0. The prior figures contradicted this desk's own thesis: it argued he had won the closing-big role, then projected him below the 27.3 MPG and 14.4 points on .656 shooting he actually produced across seven playoff games against essentially the roster he is competing with today. The All-Rookie Second Team selection (2026-05-21) and the departures of Mamukelashvili and Mogbo both point the same direction. The projection remains below his playoff line, because a seven-game sample at peak usage is not a season. ESPN — Murray-Boyles

The best redraft arbitrage is Murray-Boyles if managers price only his 8.5-point rookie season. The clearest fade is Poeltl at a healthy-prime price because his back, declining space defense and closing role all point toward 22-25 minutes. Quickley carries injury discount upside; Barrett remains much better in points or punt-FT builds than in balanced nine-category formats.

Injuries and role battles

Rookie and social/video signal

Official Summer League is useful as role evidence, not as a direct NBA-stat projection. Graves opened with 22 points and 13 rebounds, then showed a 15-point, five-rebound, six-assist, three-steal line; Bittle recorded six blocks in his debut and later made three threes with three blocks. NBA Graves debut recap, 2026-07-10 · NBA Summer League live blog, 2026-07-13 · NBA Bittle box score, 2026-07-10

The best long-form draft source found was Samson Folk and scout Josh Codinera's video breakdown: Graves projects as a quick-impact 3-and-D forward with a rotation floor and starter ceiling; Bradley is a mature, defense-first guard. Treat that as attributed scouting, not fact. Raptors Republic / YouTube film breakdown, 2026-07-09 · Raptors Open Gym draft video, 2026

Reddit sentiment strongly expects a Barnes–Murray-Boyles–Leonard closing frontcourt and sees Walter/Graves as defensive complements, but fans disagree on whether Poeltl or Murray-Boyles should start at center. That is a role-battle lead, not verification. Raptors depth-chart thread, 2026-06-30 · rotation construction thread, 2026-07-03

Team outcome range

Scenario Wins East seed Likely endpoint Fantasy effect
Trade remains stalled / current roster 43-50 3-7 First round to conference semifinal Ingram remains ~21 PPG; Dick retains shooting role
Leonard trade closes, normal health 48-56 1-5 Conference semifinal to Finals Leonard becomes top-two TOR fantasy asset; Ingram/Dick leave; Barnes assists/efficiency rise
Injury downside 37-44 6-11 Play-in / miss Barnes volume spikes; Shead, Walter, Graves and CMB gain minutes
Development upside without Leonard 50-53 2-5 Conference semifinal CMB becomes full-time closer; Quickley/Barnes climb

The median call at the cutoff is 47 wins and a second-round ceiling, with a wide error bar entirely justified by the unresolved trade and health of Quickley, Poeltl and the possible incoming 35-year-old Leonard.
