Brooklyn Nets
Research cut Evidence and roster statuses are current through 2026-07-18 (America/New_York). Projections below are an independent preseason model, not reported team promises. “Healthy-night minutes” and “season-average minute allocation” are different concepts; the latter is the 240-minute reconciliation used here.
Executive fantasy read
- Best category asset: Michael Porter Jr., but the arrival of Julius Randle and Mikel Brown Jr. should pull his 2025-26 usage back from 30.4%. Porter finished 37th in Yahoo's High Score format after averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists; an early expert mock selected him 53rd before the Randle trade materially changed the context. NBA/Yahoo, 2026-03-17 · NBC Sports expert mock, 2026-05-19
- Best structural sleeper: Day'Ron Sharpe. Brooklyn traded Nic Claxton away and officially re-signed Sharpe for two years after he produced 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in only 18.7 minutes. NBA.com, updated 2026-07-06
- Best rookie redraft bet: Mikel Brown Jr., narrowly over Joshua Jefferson. Brown has the clearest path to lead-guard minutes, but his college back issue, 41.0% field-goal rate and 3.1 turnovers per game keep him outside the safe standard-league tier. Brooklyn Nets draft release, 2026-06-24 · CBS Sports scouting comparison, 2026-06
- Best specialist: Keon Ellis for threes plus steals. The concern is role volume, not per-minute category fit.
- Biggest traps: paying for Porter's 2025-26 career year as if Randle/Brown were not added; assuming all of Brown, Egor Dëmin, Nolan Traoré and Ben Saraf can receive lead-guard usage simultaneously; or treating Danny Wolf as a fourth big when reporting frames Brooklyn's post-Claxton center rotation as a three-man competition between Day'Ron Sharpe, Moritz Wagner and Wolf.
Roster audit
The NBA team page lists Brooklyn's July roster and acquisition dates, while the July 10 four-team trade officially brought in Randle and Jefferson and sent out Claxton. NBA team page, accessed 2026-07-18 · NBA trade report, updated 2026-07-10
Brooklyn's own free-agent business, in commitment order: Day'Ron Sharpe re-signed for two years and $20 million; Moritz Wagner signed for two years and $19 million with a mutual option in year two; Keon Ellis signed away from Cleveland for two years and $18 million fully guaranteed, also with a year-two mutual option; Josh Minott re-signed for two years and $9 million with a team option. Malachi Smith was waived on July 10. The option structures are themselves role information — mutual options are a two-sided bet on the player being worth keeping, which is a firmer signal on Ellis and Wagner than a minimum-salary flier would be. ESPN, Ellis agreement · Hoops Rumors, Wagner agreement, 2026-07-01
| Contract bucket | Players | As-of assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Standard / official or signed | Mikel Brown Jr., Egor Dëmin, Michael Porter Jr., Julius Randle, Day'Ron Sharpe, Nolan Traoré, Ben Saraf, Keon Ellis, Drake Powell, Josh Minott, Terance Mann, Noah Clowney, Danny Wolf, Joshua Jefferson, Moritz Wagner | Full 15-player standard group after Malachi Smith's July 10 waiver; Brown and Jefferson are the 2026 rookies. Wagner's two-year, $19 million deal is signed and he carries a 2026-27 salary on the active roster. ESPN roster, accessed 2026-07-18 |
| Two-way | Tyler Bilodeau, Chaney Johnson | Bilodeau signed after being drafted 43rd; Johnson is listed by NBA.com among two-way free agents already re-signed. NBA free-agency status list, updated 2026-07-02 |
| Exhibit 10 / camp | Dion Brown, Ben Humrichous, Duke Brennan* | Brown and Humrichous have independently reported Exhibit 10 agreements. A respected undrafted-free-agent tracker also labeled Brennan Exhibit 10, while other reporting described only a Summer League deal; his exact contract status remains unconfirmed. Sports Illustrated report, 2026-06-26 · No Ceilings tracker, 2026-06-29 |
| Not carried as 2026-27 Nets | E.J. Liddell, Tyson Etienne, Jalen Wilson, Ochai Agbaji, Ziaire Williams, Malachi Smith, Nic Claxton | Liddell signed overseas; Etienne is an unrestricted two-way free agent; Wilson/Agbaji were not tendered; Smith was waived; Claxton was traded. Some stale official player tiles remained visible on July 18, so they are not treated as active roster proof. |
Projected depth chart
This is a functional hierarchy, not a claim that Brooklyn will publish a traditional depth chart.
| Role | First | Second | Development / emergency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lead guard | Mikel Brown Jr. | Nolan Traoré | Ben Saraf |
| Off guard | Egor Dëmin | Keon Ellis | Drake Powell |
| Wing | Michael Porter Jr. | Josh Minott | Terance Mann / Tyler Bilodeau |
| Power forward | Julius Randle | Noah Clowney | Joshua Jefferson / Chaney Johnson |
| Center | Day'Ron Sharpe | Moritz Wagner / Danny Wolf | Duke Brennan (camp) |
Correction 2026-07-18: Wolf was previously placed in the center row's development/emergency cell behind both Sharpe and Wagner. Hoops Rumors frames the post-Claxton rotation as Wagner battling "second-year big man Danny Wolf and Day'Ron Sharpe for playing time" — a three-man competition — so Wolf moves into the second-center cell. Hoops Rumors, 2026-07-01
Community depth-chart work reached essentially the same starting five but openly disagreed about the backup wing, Clowney/Wolf/Jefferson order and Traoré's post-procedure availability. That is useful role evidence, not official team confirmation. r/GoNets depth-chart thread, 2026-07-08
Reconciled 240-minute allocation
These are season-average shares of the 240 available regulation minutes, distributing injury-replacement and development games across all 15 projected standard players. They are not each player's MPG when active. Each figure is that player's projection-board GP x MPG / 82, rounded, so the three tables on this page are now one model rather than three: healthy-night minutes ≤ active-game MPG ≤ nothing, and the season share falls out of GP and MPG arithmetically. Two-way and camp appearances are absorbed inside these shares rather than carried as a separate row.
| Player | Primary slot | Team minutes / game |
|---|---|---|
| Michael Porter Jr. | SF/PF | 25 |
| Julius Randle | PF/C | 26 |
| Mikel Brown Jr. | PG | 24 |
| Egor Dëmin | SG/PG | 24 |
| Day'Ron Sharpe | C | 21 |
| Keon Ellis | SG | 20 |
| Danny Wolf | PF/C | 15 |
| Josh Minott | SF/PF | 14 |
| Nolan Traoré | PG | 14 |
| Terance Mann | SG/SF | 13 |
| Noah Clowney | PF/C | 13 |
| Moritz Wagner | C | 10 |
| Drake Powell | SG/SF | 8 |
| Ben Saraf | PG/SG | 7 |
| Joshua Jefferson | PF | 6 |
| Total | 240 |
Healthy-night core: Porter 31, Randle 30, Brown 27, Dëmin 26, Sharpe 24, Ellis 21, Wolf 17, Minott 16, Traoré 15, Clowney 12, Wagner 11 and Mann 10 = 240. Powell, Saraf and Jefferson are outside that 12-man healthy hierarchy but absorb development, injury and transaction-created minutes over the full season, which is why their season shares are non-trivial while their healthy-night figures are zero. Every healthy-night number sits at or below the same player's active-game MPG on the projection board, because active averages are inflated by the nights teammates are unavailable.
Correction 2026-07-18: the previous version of both tables was internally incoherent and is replaced. The old season-share column gave Porter 32 team-minutes on a 65-game projection — arithmetically impossible, since a player missing 17 games cannot hold a season share equal to his active MPG — while discounting the bench roughly fourfold against the same board (Powell 2 against a computed 8, Saraf 1 against 7, Jefferson 1 against 6). The old healthy-night line simultaneously carried Mann and Wolf at 5 minutes against board projections of 17 and 20. Both old columns summed to 240, so the defect was distributional, not additive. The model now derives the season share from the board rather than asserting it independently.

Nine-category redraft
Porter is the only comfortable standard-league draft pick at this stage. Randle is more useful in points, eight-category or punt-turnover builds than his name value implies in clean nine-cat. Sharpe, Brown, Dëmin and Ellis form the late-round/upside cluster; Sharpe rises in punt-FT%, while Ellis rises if steals are scarce. Everyone else begins as a watchlist or deep-league target.
Points leagues
Randle closes much of the gap on Porter because inefficient shooting and turnovers are usually less punitive. Brown's assists and likely starting role make him more immediately useful than in roto. Sharpe benefits if offensive rebounds and double-doubles receive bonuses. Ellis and Minott depend heavily on scoring settings for defensive events.
Dynasty
- Core holds: Brown, Dëmin and Porter, with Brown the highest-upside long-horizon guard and Dëmin the better multi-category size bet.
- Speculative risers: Sharpe, Traoré, Minott, Clowney, Wolf and Jefferson.
- Role compression warning: five 2025 first-rounders remain, two 2026 rookies were added, and Randle/Porter absorb veteran usage. Young does not automatically mean minutes-safe.
- Rookie market signal: a July fantasy-community draft discussion liked Brown's eventual ceiling but split sharply over whether the crowded guard room makes his Year 1 minutes safe. Treat that as sentiment, not proof. r/fantasybball, 2026-07-03

Role and injury fault lines
- Porter usage versus extension/trade risk: he is entering the final year of his contract, and a July 17 report said his agent planned extension talks with Brooklyn. Until an extension or public commitment lands, both a re-signing and a trade remain live branches. Discussion relaying Chris Haynes report, 2026-07-17
- Brown health: his lone Louisville season was limited to 21 games by a lingering back injury. That is the main reason the GP projection is 68 rather than a rookie-workhorse assumption. CBS Sports player file, accessed 2026-07-18
- Dëmin foot: Brooklyn ended his rookie year because of increased left-foot plantar fasciitis. Brooklyn Nets medical update, 2026-03
- Traoré knee: he underwent right-knee arthroscopy and missed Summer League; reporting said the expectation was readiness for training camp, but that must be rechecked in September. Nets announcement coverage, 2026-06-29
- Sharpe thumb: surgery was required for a left-thumb UCL tear in March. Brooklyn Nets medical update, 2026-03-12

Team outcome range
| Scenario | Wins | East range | Fantasy consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Floor | 24-28 | 14th-15th | Injuries recur, Brown struggles with NBA efficiency, and the defense collapses after the Claxton exit; youth auditions expand after the deadline. |
| Median | 29-34 | 11th-14th | Porter/Randle create competent half-court offense, but the guard hierarchy and rim protection remain below average. |
| Ceiling | 35-39 | 9th-11th | Brown is immediately viable, Sharpe holds up as a starter, Ellis/Minott lift the defense, and Porter/Randle stay healthy; play-in contention lasts into April. |
Model center: 32-50, 12th in the East. Brooklyn improved from a 20-62 team that ranked 30th in scoring and rebounding, but replacing Claxton with Sharpe/Wagner creates a defensive question and the roster still contains seven recent first-round prospects fighting for developmental priority. NBA team page, accessed 2026-07-18
The competitive-incentive argument is real but not determinative: Houston owns 2027 swap rights with Brooklyn, so losing does not reliably preserve a premium Nets pick. RealGM future-pick ledger, accessed 2026-07-18 That supports fewer deliberate shutdown assumptions than 2025-26, but it does not turn a young roster into a projected playoff team.
Monitoring calendar
- Now through July transaction close: the final third two-way slot, and whether Mann's $15.5 million is moved before camp.
- September training camp: Traoré knee clearance; Brown back management; Porter/Wolf/Sharpe recovery; Brown versus Traoré starting reps; Clowney versus Wolf versus Jefferson hierarchy.
- Preseason: starting center, backup-wing order, whether Mann is in the nightly rotation, and which young guard plays off the ball.
- December 15 through deadline: Porter/Randle trade signals, plus whether Brooklyn prioritizes wins or prospect evaluation.

Open questions
- Does Wagner or Wolf win the backup-center minutes behind Sharpe, or does Brooklyn split them by matchup?
- Is Brennan actually on an Exhibit 10, or was his documented relationship limited to Summer League?
- Does Brown open as the nominal point guard, or does Fernández ease him in behind Traoré/Dëmin?
- Can Sharpe maintain defensive viability over 25-plus minutes without Claxton behind him?
- Is Porter extended, traded, or allowed to enter unrestricted free agency?
- Which of Clowney, Wolf and Jefferson owns the first injury-created frontcourt promotion?
