Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles begins the post-LeBron era with a concentrated fantasy core: Luka Dončić supplies first-round creation, Walker Kessler supplies scarce blocks and FG%, and nearly every other role depends on how JJ Redick balances shooting against perimeter defense.

Verified roster and depth chart

The NBA team page listed 17 signed players on July 18. Its displayed roster had 14 standard contracts and the three two-ways; ESPN's current roster and the Los Angeles Times also included Ziaire Williams after his reported one-year agreement, producing a credible 15-standard-player camp roster. Williams is included with slightly lower roster confidence until the Lakers' transaction page displays the completed signing. Standard contracts (15): Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Jake LaRavia, Jarred Vanderbilt, Ziaire Williams, Kevon Looney, Jaden Hardy, Dalton Knecht, Bronny James, Adou Thiero, and Cameron Carr.

Two-way contracts (3): Chris Mañon, AK Okereke, and Peter Suder. The Lakers' current roster surfaces and the reported agreements identify these three as the two-way group. Lakers two-way roundup, 2026-07-05

Outgoing (six rotation players): LeBron James informed the team on June 30 that he would play elsewhere and remains an unsigned unrestricted free agent at this cutoff, taking 20.9 PPG with him; Deandre Ayton was traded to Washington on July 7 for Jaden Hardy plus 2031 and 2032 second-round picks; Rui Hachimura signed with the Clippers on a two-year deal; Jaxson Hayes signed with Utah (2yr/$12M); Luke Kennard signed with Phoenix; Marcus Smart signed with Houston (2yr/$13M). This vacated usage—James's shot volume, Ayton's center possessions, and the Hachimura/Kennard/Smart wing minutes—is the largest single input to every projection below. The projected starters—Dončić, Reaves, Grimes, Mamukelashvili, and Kessler—are an inference, and the beat is genuinely split on the fifth spot. Grimes is the cleanest point-of-attack defender among the high-minute guards, while Mamukelashvili's shooting gives Kessler room to screen and roll; that is the Lakers Daily projection. Yahoo's post-Ziaire depth chart instead lists LaRavia first among power forwards and expects him to fill the starting forward role with Ziaire as the backup 3-and-D wing. A defense-first version starts Vanderbilt or Ziaire there instead. The desk treats LaRavia and Mamukelashvili as close to co-favourites and prices neither as a secure starter. Lakers Daily depth chart · Yahoo depth chart, 2026-07

Correction 2026-07-18: the desk previously named only Vanderbilt and Ziaire as alternative starting forwards and gave LaRavia 18 minutes. Yahoo's depth chart published after the Ziaire Williams signing projects LaRavia as the starting forward, and he played 25.1 MPG in all 82 games in 2025-26, so his base is raised to 22 minutes and Mamukelashvili's starter case is no longer presented as the single branch.

Exact healthy-night rotation

This representative competitive-game map excludes overtime and sums to 240 regulation minutes, with every positional column summing to 48. The columns describe lineup slots and defensive matchups, not permanent fantasy eligibility. Zero-minute players have injury/trade paths and appearance-MPG projections below; they are not assumed to play simultaneously with the healthy base rotation.

Correction 2026-07-18: LaRavia rises from 18 to 22 minutes on the Yahoo depth-chart evidence that he is the projected starting forward. The four minutes come from Mamukelashvili (26 to 24, two at power forward) and Ziaire Williams (14 to 12, two at small forward); the table still sums to 240 with every positional column at 48.

Hardy, Knecht, Bronny, Thiero, Mañon, Okereke, and Suder are outside the healthy-night 11-man allocation. Their projected MPG is the workload when activated by injury, matchup, development, or a consolidation trade—not an additional claim on the same 240 minutes.

Draft board by format

Player 9-cat redraft Points leagues Dynasty Desk view
Luka Dončić Overall 2-5 Elite top-three tier Overall 2-5 The post-LeBron usage ceiling is enormous, but recurring left-hamstring strains make a 75-game projection too aggressive.
Walker Kessler 30-50 Top 45-70 45-80 Blocks, rebounds, and high-volume FG% can beat the band; repaired-shoulder availability and FT volume can break it.
Austin Reaves 35-55 Top 35-55 25-50 More secondary creation raises assists, but his 2025-26 calf and oblique absences make totals less secure than the per-game line.
Sandro Mamukelashvili 90-135 Top 100-145 100-170 The starter path creates a rare threes/rebounds/FG% combination; a bench role cuts him toward 20-22 minutes.
Quentin Grimes 100-145 Top 110-160 180-260 Stable defense and shooting minutes, modest usage. A three-point rebound matters more than a points spike.
Collin Sexton 120-170 Top 100-150 180-260 Better in points formats and punt-TO builds; three high-usage guards cap his ceiling.
Cameron Carr 220-300 Rookie watch list 120-220 Summer League supports NBA readiness, not a 25-minute role. A consolidation trade would widen his path, but see the transaction-capacity note below: that is a low-probability route, so injury is the realistic one.
Everyone else Stream/deep only Injury-activated Prospect-specific LaRavia is the closest to standard-league relevance if the Yahoo starting-forward projection is right; Ziaire is the next wing streamer; Looney is Kessler's rebounding handcuff; Mañon is the best two-way stocks specialist.

Dan Titus ranked Dončić fourth in an April nine-category/High Score first-round look; SI also ranked him fourth in a broad June top 50. Hashtag's July 2 five-year dynasty board ranked Dončić third, Reaves 25th, Kessler 71st, and Carr 216th, while its July 18 crowd market placed Reaves 43rd, Kessler 57th, and Carr 131st. The Carr and Kessler gaps are useful uncertainty signals, not inputs to average blindly. Transaction capacity. All 15 standard spots are filled, so any addition requires a trade or a two-way conversion, not a signing above the minimum. The sign-and-trade for Kessler hard-capped Los Angeles at the first apron: it sat roughly $13M below that line before the Ziaire Williams deal and roughly $10M below it after, meaning any in-season addition needs matched salary going out. The tradeable first-round inventory is also depleted — unprotected 2031 and 2033 firsts and 2028/2030 swaps were conveyed to Utah. Reporting on the Kuminga pursuit states plainly that these constraints have prevented a competitive offer; a sign-and-trade built around Vanderbilt plus a swap is the structure discussed, which makes Vanderbilt, LaRavia, and Knecht the minutes most at risk if it ever happens. Every consolidation row on this page should be read at a materially lower probability than the rest of the table. Silver Screen and Roll cap sheet · Lakers Daily, Kuminga and the hard cap

Correction 2026-07-18: the desk previously invoked a consolidation trade three times without pricing it. With the roster full at 15, a first-apron hard cap roughly $10M away, and the 2031/2033 firsts and 2028/2030 swaps already conveyed for Kessler, those rows are downgraded from live scenarios to tail cases.

Kessler underwent November 2025 surgery for a left shoulder labral tear after five games. He said in July that he was 100% cleared; the base projection accepts clearance but not a 75-game certainty. Dončić had two left-hamstring absences before a Grade 2 strain ended his regular season, while Reaves missed 19 games with a calf strain and then suffered a Grade 2 oblique strain. Utah Jazz surgery announcement, 2025-11-05 · Kessler clearance report, 2026-07-13 · NBA Dončić update, 2026-04-03 · NBA Reaves update, 2026-04-04

No Jonathan Kuminga or other unsigned target enters the base roster. Rumored pursuits are scenario prompts only until a transaction is official or credibly agreed.

Team outcome range

Outcome Wins Mechanism Fantasy consequence
Downside 40-44 Dončić/Reaves miss time, Kessler's return is uneven, and the thin wing defense is exposed Sexton streams well, but efficiency and easy Kessler offense fall; late-season volatility grows.
Median 47-49 The three-man core is mostly available, Kessler anchors an average defense, and the spacing forwards hold up Dončić is a top-five anchor; Reaves/Kessler return early-middle-round value; one of Mamukelashvili/Grimes is standard-league useful.
Upside 53-56 Kessler is fully healthy, Grimes/Ziaire defend above expectation, and Redick builds an elite half-court offense Better percentages and assists lift the core; Carr remains developmental because the veterans stay useful.

Rome's July 17 RAPM outcome row projects 41.5 wins but explicitly carries many_rookies and many_replacement_rows flags and an incomplete minute picture. This desk uses 48 as its basketball median rather than treating that provisional row as an authoritative roster forecast.
