Scope and reading rules
- Accessed: 2026-07-18, America/New_York.
- Coverage: Publicly accessible rankings, mocks, rookie boards, draft-market pages, projections, and fantasy news from five major publishers. Paywalled or authenticated-only data is recorded as a gap rather than inferred.
- Observed means a directly visible page field, table, byline, timestamp, or rank.
- Opinion means an analyst's projection, value judgment, role expectation, or recommendation; it is attributed rather than converted into fact.
- Historical baseline means a genuine 2026-27 article that was reasonable when published but predates material draft, trade, injury, or free-agency information.
- Stale / mislabelled means the underlying season or payload is older even if dynamic team metadata makes the page look current.
- Evidence grades: specialist editorial rankings and analysis are normally C; platform-hosted tables can be B/C for what the table actually displays, but not for an unstated season or methodology; news summaries remain secondary until checked against an official release or primary report.
- Rankings are never merged without preserving scoring system, league size, date, and whether the list is a rank, mock selection, ADP, projection, or article order.
Executive verdict
As of July 18, none of these five publishers offered a trustworthy, complete, post-draft public 2026-27 overall board and a current full projection set and real 2026-27 ADP. The usable public record is instead a layered timeline:
- April/May way-too-early overall ranks and mocks establish a pre-draft baseline.
- June/July draft, trade, and Summer League articles update particular players and situations.
- Current news feeds supply leads, not authoritative roster or health facts.
- Several evergreen tools still expose 2025-26 ranks, ADP, or projections under current roster labels.
The strongest early cross-format signal is a top tier of Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic, with Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Johnson, and Anthony Edwards repeatedly appearing in the early first round. That is an inference from dated lists—not a new consensus ranking.
Comparable early-board anchors
| Source and date | Exact unit | Top 10 / first-round order | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| ESPN, André Snellings, 2026-04-14 | H2H points ranking, Top 150 | Jokic, Wembanyama, Gilgeous-Alexander, Doncic, Maxey, Cunningham, Antetokounmpo, Jalen Johnson, Mitchell, Edwards | Historical pre-draft baseline; not a category rank and not current after the offseason. |
| Yahoo Sports / NBA.com, Dan Titus, 2026-04-14 | Early first round discussed through 9-category and Yahoo High Score lenses | Jokic, Wembanyama, Gilgeous-Alexander, Doncic, Cunningham, Maxey, Jalen Johnson, Edwards, Tatum, Antetokounmpo | Historical pre-draft baseline; analyst opinion, not Yahoo ADP. |
| Rotoworld, 2026-05-07 | Actual 10-team, 8-category H2H mock; third-round reversal; pick order | Wembanyama, Jokic, Doncic, Gilgeous-Alexander, Maxey, Cunningham, Haliburton, Jalen Johnson, Edwards, Durant | A format-specific industry-room snapshot, not an NBC consensus rank. Historical pre-draft baseline. |
What the disagreement teaches
- Jokic/Wembanyama: both occupy the first two places in all three early exercises; order changes with manager and format.
- Gilgeous-Alexander/Doncic: both occupy places three or four in all three.
- Maxey/Cunningham/Jalen Johnson/Edwards: repeated early-first-round names across the three formats.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo: ESPN points rank No. 7, Titus early-board No. 10, but the Rotoworld 8-category room selected him No. 16. Free-throw treatment and categorical scarcity materially change his price.
- Tyrese Haliburton: Rotoworld's 8-category room selected him No. 7 while ESPN placed him No. 20 in points. That 13-slot difference is a warning against creating a format-free composite.
- Jayson Tatum: Yahoo No. 9, ESPN No. 12, and Rotoworld pick No. 11. All three were published before later offseason context and must remain dated.
ESPN
Usable 2026-27 page
Fantasy basketball way-too-early points-league rankings for 2026-27 — André Snellings; published and last modified 2026-04-14 according to the page metadata; C, historical baseline.
- Explicitly a head-to-head points Top 150, not roto or categories.
- Top 10: Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Johnson, Donovan Mitchell, Anthony Edwards.
- Other useful April anchors: Cooper Flagg No. 11, Jayson Tatum No. 12, Amen Thompson No. 13, Scottie Barnes No. 14, Tyrese Haliburton No. 20, Kon Knueppel No. 33, Kyrie Irving No. 34, Josh Giddey No. 35.
- The copy said it would be updated after the 2026 NBA Draft, but the direct page still reported an April 14 modification date on July 18. Observed page state: no visible post-draft refresh.
- The list contains no 2026 rookies and retains superseded team labels, including LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges with Charlotte, Grayson Allen with Phoenix, and Naz Reid with Minnesota. This is decisive evidence that it is not a current roster-adjusted board.
- Best use: a reproducible pre-draft points-league prior against which later changes can be measured.
- Do not use: as present ESPN ADP, category rank, rest-of-season rank, or current depth-chart evidence.
Current availability and gaps
- ESPN Fantasy Basketball hub — platform landing page; access on 2026-07-18 was partly constrained by dynamic rendering/bot controls.
- No later public ESPN 2026-27 overall refresh, category/roto board, complete projection table, or transparent current ADP sample was found through July 18.
- Because ESPN's April article promised an update, its lack of visible revision should be surfaced prominently wherever its ranks are cited.
Yahoo Sports
Usable rankings and analysis
NBA Fantasy: 2026-27 early first-round rankings — Dan Titus for Yahoo Sports, hosted by NBA.com; 2026-04-14; C, historical baseline.
- Titus explicitly discusses both standard 9-category play and Yahoo High Score.
- Top 10: Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Johnson, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- This is a columnist's early first-round opinion, not Yahoo draft-room ADP or a full Yahoo staff rank.
12 veterans to avoid reaching for in 2026-27 fantasy drafts — Dan Titus; 2026-05-28; C, analyst opinion with historical market inputs.
- The ADP figures in the article are explicitly 2025-26 Yahoo ADP, used as context for a future-draft warning. They are not observed 2026-27 prices.
- Players and quoted prior-season ADP: Anthony Davis 10, Domantas Sabonis 18, Joel Embiid 47, Kristaps Porzingis 52, Myles Turner 52.8, Nikola Vucevic 53, Zach LaVine 61.7, Deandre Ayton 66, Paul George 79.3, Jakob Poeltl 83.6, Draymond Green 100, Klay Thompson 115.6.
- Best use: a list of veteran risk hypotheses to test against later team, health, and market data.
2026 NBA Draft live grades and fantasy fit — Dan Titus; 2026-06-24; C, attributed fantasy-fit analysis.
- Covers the lottery pick by pick and is useful for recording the author's immediate role and roster-fit reactions.
- Grades and role projections are opinion. Draft selections themselves should be verified through the NBA or team releases.
Players to watch at 2026 Vegas Summer League — Dan Titus; 2026-07-08; C, watch list rather than rank.
Second-year Summer League stock report — Dan Titus; 2026-07-13; C, short-sample analyst opinion.
Ranking the top four 2026 draft picks at Las Vegas Summer League — Dan Titus; 2026-07-14; C, current but deliberately provisional.
- Caleb Wilson
- Cameron Boozer
- AJ Dybantsa
- Darryn Peterson
The article explicitly treats the early separation as provisional rather than a final verdict. Titus associates Wilson with stocks and threes but flags turnovers/free throws; calls Boozer a high-floor 9-category option; sees Dybantsa as more attractive in points than 9-category leagues; and warns that Peterson's Summer League usage cannot be assumed in Utah's full rotation. Those are attributed opinions based on a very small sample.
One Summer League takeaway for all 30 teams — Dan Titus; 2026-07-15; C, broad current scan with Summer League sample caveats.
Draft-room and syndication traps
- Yahoo draft analysis / ADP route and Yahoo Fantasy Basketball draft route did not expose a responsibly citable 2026-27 dataset on 2026-07-18; the public route returned an unavailable/not-found experience during direct access.
- Search-engine remnants can surface prior-season Yahoo draft averages. They are not an adequate substitute for a dated, sampled, live 2026-27 table.
- Many pages on the Yahoo domain are syndicated. For example, “Fantasy Basketball: 2026-27 rookies to target in drafts” identifies Athlon Sports as the original publisher. Domain alone must not be treated as Yahoo analyst consensus.
- No complete, public, post-draft Yahoo 2026-27 overall or dynasty board was located by July 18. Titus's July 14 article says a full dynasty ranking is still to come, so that future artifact should supersede these partial boards once published.
CBS Sports
What is current and usable
- CBS Fantasy Basketball hub and player-news feed carried current player blurbs on July 18, including Summer League items. B/C for observed publication state; secondary news evidence.
- Many blurbs are bylined “RotoWire Staff” or summarize another reporter. Use them as discovery and fantasy-impact commentary; cite the primary report or official release for roster, injury, contract, or availability facts.
- CBS team/player pages can help reveal what its platform currently displays, but dynamic team labels do not establish that adjacent projections or ranks were recalculated.
False-current draft tools
CBS draft-prep hub — displayed an update date of 2026-04-30 when accessed; stale/mixed payload.
- Its featured “Way-Too-Early Mock Draft” is dated 2025-04-12 and concerns the 2025-26 season.
- A visible “Top 200” area showed current-looking team metadata but no reliable 2026-27 season stamp, methodology, rookie integration, or post-draft refresh. It must not be promoted as a 2026-27 board.
CBS average draft position — stale / season-unverified on 2026-07-18.
- The page showed current roster overlays alongside values such as Jokic 1.12, Antetokounmpo 2.71, Doncic 3.62, Wembanyama 3.68, Gilgeous-Alexander 4.03, Edwards 7.45, Cunningham 7.53, Sengun 8.75, Davis 9.90, Sabonis 11.77.
- It did not expose a convincing 2026-27 date window, sample size, scoring format, or 2026 rookie population. Those numbers resemble a residual prior-season pool and are not valid 2026-27 ADP.
- CBS Fantasy Basketball game page stated that users could sign up to be notified when Commissioner opens for 2026-27. That platform state reinforces the conclusion that the visible ADP was not a live new-season market.
CBS projections — stale / season-unverified on 2026-07-18.
- The table showed fractional projected games and lines such as Jokic 26.95 points, 12.08 rebounds, 9.01 assists and Wembanyama 23.46 points, 9.52 rebounds, 3.73 assists.
- No visible 2026-27 season label, update timestamp, source model, or rookie integration made the table fit for current projections. Some associated player/team context was plainly from the prior season.
- Do not ingest these lines into player pages unless CBS republishes a clearly dated 2026-27 projection release.
CBS gap
No new CBS editorial 2026-27 overall board, full projection model, rookie ranking, or genuinely sampled 2026-27 ADP was located by July 18. CBS's present value is its current news stream, not its evergreen draft-tool payload.
NBC Sports / Rotoworld
Rankings and mocks
Wembanyama, Jokic kick off extremely early 2026-27 mock — published 2026-05-07, modified the same day; C, historical baseline.
- Six-round, 10-team, 8-category head-to-head mock using third-round reversal.
- First round: Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Johnson, Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant.
- Second round: Jayson Tatum, Scottie Barnes, Karl-Anthony Towns, Stephen Curry, Cooper Flagg, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Anthony Davis.
- The room included Rotoworld writers and outside industry participants. Results are actual picks under those settings, not staff rankings, ADP, or NBC consensus.
- Best use: format-specific price discovery and a record of pre-draft expectations.
Post-draft and offseason analysis
2026 NBA Draft fantasy winners and losers — Zak Hanshew; 2026-06-25; C, attributed opinion.
- Useful immediate hypotheses include Yaxel Lendeborg's opportunity, Trae Young's assist environment, Aday Mara's contingent role, and Milwaukee's rookie fits.
- Role claims were written before later roster moves and contracts. Each must be rechecked against current depth charts rather than copied as a July projection.
AJ Dybantsa, Darius Acuff Jr. among rookies to watch — Raphielle Johnson; 2026-07-02; C, watch list—not a ranking.
- Article order: AJ Dybantsa, Darius Acuff Jr., Cameron Boozer, Caleb Wilson, Darryn Peterson, Mikel Brown Jr., Kingston Flemings, Nate Ament, Morez Johnson Jr., Hannes Steinbach.
- The author explicitly distinguishes Summer League conditions from regular-season roles. Preserve that caveat and do not translate article order into rank numbers.
Ten returning players fantasy managers should watch — Cole Huff; 2026-07-02; C, watch list / development hypotheses.
Ja Morant, Norman Powell and other offseason moves affecting 2026-27 fantasy — Raphielle Johnson; published and last modified 2026-07-06; C, current at publication and aging.
- Covers numerous early-offseason situations, including LaMelo Ball/Naz Reid, Ja Morant, and Norman Powell.
- The article says it will be updated as moves occur, but its page metadata still showed July 6 on July 18. Treat it as a July 6 snapshot, not a continuously current transaction ledger.
Fantasy Fallout series — transaction-impact interpretation; C for fantasy analysis; transaction facts require primary confirmation:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly traded to Miami — 2026-06-23.
- Timberwolves acquire LaMelo Ball; Naz Reid to Charlotte — 2026-06-25.
- Kawhi Leonard returns to Toronto; Brandon Ingram heads west — 2026-06-30.
- Celtics reportedly trade Jaylen Brown to Philadelphia — 2026-07-01.
News feed and gap
- Rotoworld Fantasy Basketball hub and player-news feed are useful for timely leads and immediate fantasy context.
- Example of the feed's granularity: Darius Acuff Jr. finishes defeat with game-high 26, 2026-07-14. A Summer League box-score recap is evidence of that game, not a regular-season minutes projection.
- The available 2025-26 Rotoworld draft-prep guide remains prior-season material.
- No complete post-draft 2026-27 Rotoworld Top 200, projection model, ADP table, or dynasty board was found by July 18.
FantasyPros
Current editorial rookie board
Fantasy Basketball Rookie Rankings: 2026 NBA Draft — Seth Fisher; 2026-07-09; C, one author's redraft-oriented opinion, not ECR.
| Rank | Player | Team shown | Previous rank |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cameron Boozer | MEM | 1 |
| 2 | Darryn Peterson | UTA | 3 |
| 3 | AJ Dybantsa | WSH | 2 |
| 4 | Darius Acuff Jr. | SAC | 5 |
| 5 | Caleb Wilson | CHI | 4 |
| 6 | Yaxel Lendeborg | GSW | 7 |
| 7 | Keaton Wagler | LAC | 8 |
| 8 | Kingston Flemings | ATL | 6 |
| 9 | Mikel Brown Jr. | BKN | 10 |
| 10 | Hannes Steinbach | CHA | 14 |
| 11 | Ebuka Okorie | DET | 15 |
| 12 | Brayden Burries | MIL | 12 |
| 13 | Morez Johnson Jr. | DAL | 17 |
| 14 | Aday Mara | OKC | 9 |
| 15 | Christian Anderson | CHA | 21 |
- “Best of the rest” continues with Labaron Philon Jr., Bennett Stirtz, Allen Graves, Dailyn Swain, and Nate Ament in places 16-20, then ten more names through No. 30.
- The author's role and opening-lineup statements are projections, not official depth-chart facts. The board incorporates only an early slice of Summer League and was already nine days old at this audit.
- The pre-draft version from 2026-06-03 provides a useful change log: Boozer, Dybantsa, Peterson, Wilson, Acuff, Flemings, Lendeborg, Wagler, Mara, Brown formed its top 10.
- 2026 NBA Draft fantasy winners and losers — Seth Fisher; 2026-06-26; useful attributed roster-fit opinion, not a ranked projection.
- FantasyPros NBA articles index should be monitored for the eventual overall 2026-27 launch.
A live example of timing disagreement
- FantasyPros ranked Caleb Wilson No. 5 on July 9.
- Yahoo's Dan Titus ranked Wilson No. 1 among four highlighted rookies on July 14 after additional Vegas games.
- This is not a factual contradiction. The author, date, sample, pool size, and purpose all differ. Player pages should retain both dated observations rather than silently average them.
ECR, dynasty, ADP, and projection traps
FantasyPros category ECR — stale 2025-26 payload on 2026-07-18.
- Page title identified 2025-26. Embedded data identified year 2025, 377 players, 12 experts, and last update 10/23.
- Current team metadata can be rendered beside old ranks. That does not convert the rank computation to 2026-27.
Points ECR pages: Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS — stale 2025-26 payloads.
- Embedded data identified year 2025, 424 players, 13 experts, and last update 10/23.
- These are format-separated prior-season rankings, not a present 2026-27 consensus.
FantasyPros dynasty overall — stale / insufficient for 2026-27.
- Embedded data identified year 2025, 443 players, only one expert, and last update 3/03.
- The 2026 rookie class was absent. Even if current team labels appear, this cannot serve as a 2026-27 dynasty consensus.
FantasyPros overall ADP — explicitly labelled 2025-26, consensus of two sources (Yahoo and ESPN) when accessed.
- It is prior-season ADP, not evidence of the 2026-27 market.
- Lack of the 2026 rookie population is an additional cross-check.
FantasyPros projections and projected player rater — residual 2025-26 material.
- The projections page identified two sources and an October 27, 2025 update context.
- Weekly and player-page widgets can mix old projection/rank modules with current team and news modules. Audit each module independently.
News feed
- FantasyPros NBA player news displayed July 10-11 items when accessed July 18. It often names a source reporter and links onward.
- Treat the FantasyPros blurb as fantasy-impact commentary and the linked report as the lead. Verify material facts against the original reporter, official transaction wire, or team release.
- The feed was not comprehensive or same-day enough to function as the encyclopedia's only news source.
Cross-publisher source matrix

| Yahoo | Dan Titus's dated articles; Summer League monitoring | Jul. 14 provisional rookie top four; Jul. 15 team scan | Syndicated Yahoo-domain content as Yahoo consensus; 2025-26 ADP examples as new ADP | No accessible full post-draft overall/dynasty rank or live ADP |
| CBS | Current blurbs and discovery | Ongoing hub/player-news stream | Draft-prep Top 200, ADP, and projections with current roster overlays | No credible full 2026-27 draft kit found |

| FantasyPros | Jul. 9 rookie ranking; article archive; news leads | Jul. 9 Seth Fisher rookie top 30 | 2025-26 ECR, points ranks, one-expert dynasty list, ADP, projections | No active 2026-27 ECR/ADP/projection product found |
Safe ingestion rules for the encyclopedia
- Store each rank with
source,author,published_at,accessed_at,format,league_size,rank_type, anduniverse_size. - Give an actual mock draft a
mock_pickfield, never anADPorexpert_rankfield. - Treat article order as unordered unless the author explicitly calls it a ranking.
- Preserve preseason and prior-season ADP labels exactly. Never relabel a comparison input as 2026-27 market data.
- Separate current roster metadata from the timestamp of the rank/projection payload.
- For news feeds, follow the attribution chain to the primary reporter or official announcement before updating player/team facts.
- Preserve analyst language as attributed scenario statements: “Titus expects…” or “Hanshew identifies…,” not “Player X will start.”
- Attach a freshness state to every article: current, aging, historical baseline, or stale/mislabelled.
- Re-audit all five publishers after draft rooms open and again after the first clearly labelled 2026-27 projection release.
Monitor list
- ESPN post-draft revision of the April Top 150 and any category/roto companion.
- Yahoo full Dan Titus dynasty and overall boards, plus a functioning 2026-27 draft-analysis page with sample metadata.
- CBS's 2026-27 Commissioner opening and replacement of residual ADP/projection payloads.
- Rotoworld 2026-27 draft guide, Top 200, and projection release.
- FantasyPros ECR season rollover, expert count, 2026 rookie inclusion, and 2026-27 ADP source count.
- Modification timestamps on “living” offseason articles; promises to update are not evidence that an update occurred.
Open questions
- When will each platform expose a season-stamped 2026-27 projection set and what methodology will it disclose?
- Will Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS publish ADP sample sizes, date windows, league settings, and bot/paid-draft filters?
- Which early ranks change most after the rookie class, final depth charts, and injury recoveries are incorporated?
- Can archived snapshots be collected at each major update so dynamic pages do not erase the ranking history?
- Which publisher will provide the first genuinely multi-expert, post-draft 2026-27 category consensus rather than a single-writer board?
