Basketball Monster

As of July 18, Basketball Monster had created a 2026-27 projection lane but had not opened its new-season product; the only public 2026-27 ranking output was Summer League performance, not a regular-season forecast.

Source verdict

There was no publicly verifiable Basketball Monster 2026-27 regular-season player rank, stat projection, projected minute line, dynasty board, ADP table, or team projection at the cutoff. The navigation called the member page “Projections 26-27,” but an unauthenticated request redirected to the home page. The site's July update said it expected to open around the NBA schedule release in mid-August.

The season boundary is unusually easy to misread because the same current site shell exposes four different kinds of material:

Material visible on 2026-07-18 What it actually is Encyclopedia state
“Projections 26-27” in the member navigation A new-season product lane with no public output at the cutoff Genuine 2026-27 lane, inaccessible/unverified
“Player Rankings 26-27” at dataset ds=170 A results-ranking page for games played; it displayed no results Genuine season label, not a forecast
“Player Rankings Summer 26-27” at dataset ds=174 Observed 2026 Summer League stats converted to fantasy values Current 2026 evidence, retrospective within Summer League
Default “Player Rankings 25-26,” Draft Monster, short-term tools, and the draft kit 2025-26 results or last-season inputs Historical baseline only
The home-page block headed “New for 2025-26” Feature documentation for the prior product cycle Tool context, not new-season data

This source can therefore inform the encyclopedia's methodology and August refresh plan now. It cannot yet supply a normalized 2026-27 rank or projection comparison.

What is genuinely 2026-27-forward

New-season status and release timing

The live home page showed a “Projections 26-27” member link and warned that features and the interface were being upgraded through July. It directed users to a July notice and said the site would open in mid-August. The page has no publication or update timestamp; accessed 2026-07-18.

The more precise source is administrator ken_admin's “Website July Update” forum post, posted 2026-07-12 at 7:04 AM in an unspecified site timezone and accessed 2026-07-18. It said:

Those statements are operational guidance from the site administrator. They override any inference that a current navigation label proves a current projection set.

Empty regular-season results page

The public Player Rankings 26-27 page was undated and accessed 2026-07-18. Its title and season selector were set to NBA 26-27, but its results area said, “There are no results to display.” This is expected because Basketball Monster defines Player Rankings as ranks based on games already played. It is not evidence that the paid preseason projections are empty, only that the public results dataset contains no 2026-27 NBA games yet.

Public Summer League ranking

The public Player Rankings Summer 26-27 page was undated and accessed 2026-07-18. Under its default view it converted observed Summer League box-score production into per-game nine-category value. Its first five displayed players were Meleek Thomas, Morez Johnson Jr., Joan Beringer, Noah Penda, and Nae'Qwan Tomlin. That is a current league-wide result table, but it is not a projection, rookie redraft rank, dynasty rank, or expected NBA rotation hierarchy.

The default table had no meaningful sample-size protection for early Summer League. Thomas's No. 1 value came from four games and Tomlin's No. 5 value from two. Team codes describe Summer League affiliation and should not be treated as proof of a regular-season contract or role.

What was not yet published

The recent-articles index, an undated live index accessed 2026-07-18, still led with Matt Smith's April 8, 2026 waiver-wire article and then late-2025-26 weekly previews and chats. No 2026-27 preseason article appeared on the first/newest page.

The Draft Kit URL redirected to the home page at the cutoff. Its last search-indexed public version was explicitly titled “Draft Kit for NBA 25-26” and contained 2025 preseason articles. It must not be relabeled as the 2026-27 kit.

2025-26 retrospective material only

The undated public Player Rankings 25-26 page, accessed 2026-07-18, was a completed-season statistical ranking. The default display was Full Season, Per Game Value, Per Game Stats, with the nine categories points, threes, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, FG%, FT%, and turnovers. Its first seven displayed players were Nikola Jokić, Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kawhi Leonard, Tyrese Maxey, Luka Dončić, and Donovan Mitchell.

This is useful as a category-production baseline, not as the 2026-27 draft order. It includes small-sample players, attaches a player's current team code to a full-season line even when he changed teams, and changes when league size, categories, weights, punt settings, date range, per-game/total treatment, or player filters change.

The same restriction applies to every feature advertised under the home page's “New for 2025-26” heading: projection ranges, the upgraded Draft Monster, Matchup Monster, Advanced ADP, Advanced Ownership, and Ottoneu support. Those feature names describe capabilities that may return in 2026-27; they do not establish that new-season data were available on July 18.

Methodology and interpretation

Rankings and projections are different products

Basketball Monster's Help and FAQ, undated and accessed 2026-07-18, defines Player Rankings as ranks from games already played and Projections as forecasted player ranks under the user's settings. The distinction is reinforced by Josh Lloyd's “Welcome” methodology article, published 2022-08-15 and accessed 2026-07-18:

The article is old but still consistent with the live 2026 help pages. It is methodology, not evidence about any 2026-27 player.

Value construction

The FAQ says Basketball Monster values are z-scores, with 0.00 representing the league average. Standard eight-category settings use points, threes, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, FG%, and FT%; standard nine-category adds turnovers. Category weights and punts alter the values. Columns ending in V are single-category values.

The user can also change:

Total Value penalizes missed games. Per Game Value ignores games played. The FAQ recommends a third view, Total Value with Added Replacement Games, which fills missed games with estimated free-agent production. These three units should never be compared without labeling them.

Projection maintenance and uncertainty

The home page says the normal product maintains full-season and daily/short-term projections. It describes full-season projections as updated multiple times per day and short-term projections as updated immediately after news, with Josh Lloyd maintaining the primary set and a Kyle McKeown set available as a second opinion. The FAQ additionally exposes a 1-to-5 projection-confidence field.

Those are descriptions of the normal service, not timestamp proof for a particular row. A Basketball Monster projection citation should capture the access time, analyst set, categories, weights, punts, value unit, games and minutes assumptions, and relevant league settings. Without those fields, a rank is not reproducible.

Draft-room values

The undated Draft Tracker tutorial, accessed 2026-07-18, documents three distinct concepts:

The tool also shows categorical scarcity, team summaries, projected standings, statuses, injuries, playoff games, quality games, and a Monster draft-board rank. Dynamic and positional values change with every refresh and with punt settings. They are decision aids, not stable published ranks.

The home page says tools can interact with Yahoo!, ESPN, FanTrax, CBS, Sleeper, FleaFlicker, and Ottoneu. The Draft Tracker documentation specifically describes live or automated draft connectivity for a narrower subset, so integration claims should be made tool by tool rather than generalized.

Cavaliers evidence

Current Summer League snapshot — observed, not projected

The following Cavaliers appeared on the default Summer 26-27 ranking when accessed 2026-07-18. Rank and Value are the site's displayed per-game nine-category result under that page's default settings.

Summer player Rank Value Games MPG Important context
Meleek Thomas 1 0.95 4 29.0 25.8 points, 3.5 threes, 3.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per game; a four-game event sample
Nae'Qwan Tomlin 5 0.85 2 29.2 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks; only two games
Jax Robinson 87 -0.09 5 21.1 Summer-roster result only
Malaki Branham 89 -0.10 5 23.3 Summer-roster result only
Tre'von Spillers 101 -0.16 3 11.8 Summer-roster result only
Ernest Udeh Jr. 108 -0.19 5 20.6 Blocks helped, scoring and free throws hurt the default value
Riley Minix 220 -0.48 5 25.6 Poor shooting in this sample depressed the result
Xaivian Lee 228 -0.50 5 16.0 Summer-roster result only

The actionable signal is narrow: Thomas and Tomlin supplied strong multi-category Summer League production. The page does not answer whether either will receive an NBA rotation role. It should be paired with Cleveland Cavaliers roster and minute evidence, not inserted directly into a redraft rank.

Completed 2025-26 baseline — historical only

The Cavaliers shown on the default 2025-26 Player Rankings page were:

Player 2025-26 per-game rank Value Games MPG Boundary note
Donovan Mitchell 7 0.45 70 33.5 Strong completed-season category baseline; not a 2026-27 rank
James Harden 23 0.26 70 34.8 Full-season multi-team line displayed with his current CLE code
Evan Mobley 49 0.05 65 31.9 Blocks, rebounds, and FG% were offset substantially by FT%
Jarrett Allen 69 -0.02 56 27.1 FG% and rebounds helped; threes and FT% constrained the default value
Jaylon Tyson 141 -0.25 66 26.9 Historical role and rate only
Sam Merrill 150 -0.27 52 26.5 Threes were the specialist contribution
Max Strus 217 -0.41 12 24.0 Twelve-game sample after a long absence

The public table is not an exhaustive current Cavaliers depth chart and does not apply a clean minimum-games rule. It should be used to audit observed category strengths and weaknesses, not to set 2026-27 draft slots. No public Basketball Monster 2026-27 Cleveland projected minutes, games, stat lines, or ranks were recoverable at the cutoff.

Access and preservation limits

Encyclopedia use

  1. Keep Basketball Monster at specialist-analysis evidence grade C for projections and ranks. Use its public results as statistical context, not as the source of record for rosters, injuries, or transactions.
  2. Schedule a new extraction after the site's announced mid-August opening. Capture both Josh and Kyle sets if legitimately accessible, with settings and units.
  3. Normalize per-game and total value separately. Preserve estimated games, minutes, punts, category weights, and replacement-game treatment.
  4. Treat the Summer League table as a player-development clue only. Do not let Thomas's No. 1 or Tomlin's No. 5 event rank become an NBA redraft claim.
  5. Compare public 2025-26 ranks only against other completed-season results. They are useful for identifying category mechanisms, not setting a 2026-27 board.
  6. For Cleveland, the first future refresh should capture Mitchell, Mobley, Harden, Allen, Tyson, Thomas, and Tomlin, plus the effect of any unresolved roster move on minutes and usage.
