Kyle Anderson

Kyle Anderson is Toronto's veteran connective tissue: useful in real rotations, but too low-usage for fantasy unless multiple frontcourt players sit.

Cutoff/status: 2026-07-18; officially signed to a one-year standard deal. Raptors announcement · Official NBA profile · Toronto Raptors

Baseline and projection

Across three teams in 2025-26, Anderson played 43 games and averaged 19.8 minutes, 6.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.0 steal, 0.6 blocks and 0.9 turnovers on .530/.706 shooting with almost no threes. NBA's offseason roundup described him as a one-year, $3.9 million addition who supplies ball handling, switchability and savvy. NBA free-agency roundup, 2026-07-06

Correction 2026-07-18: raised from 5.0 MPG to 12.0. The prior line paired 60 appearances with five minutes a night, which is not a shape NBA rotations actually produce — a player who dresses and plays 60 times is either a rotation piece or he is a DNP-CD veteran with far fewer appearances, not both. The affirmative case is the frontcourt behind him: Sandro Mamukelashvili declined his option on 6/29 and signed with the Lakers, and Jonathan Mogbo's team option was declined the same day, leaving Anderson and Jackson-Davis as the only healthy bigs behind Poeltl and Murray-Boyles. Anderson averaged 19.8 MPG across 43 games in 2025-26 and was signed on a one-year, $3.9M veteran-minimum specifically as switchable frontcourt depth, so 12 minutes is a markdown from his own recent baseline rather than a bet on him. Fantasy value

Anderson's healthy-night allocation is five minutes on the current roster and eight in the conditional Leonard chart, because Ingram and Dick leave. His season average sits above both, since the games Poeltl or Murray-Boyles miss are precisely the games he plays. Even at 12 minutes his role is more lineup glue than fantasy production.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Two seasons at UCLA. Freshman 2012-13: 9.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists in 35 games, second-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Freshman. Sophomore 2013-14: 14.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists on .480/.483/.737, first-team All-Pac-12, Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player and third-team AP All-American. A point-forward from the start — 5.0 assists per game as a college big is the whole scouting report. Draft: 2014, first round, 30th overall, San Antonio.

He obtained Chinese citizenship in July 2023 and played for China at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Durability: Mostly available across twelve seasons, with one badly disrupted year. In 2018-19 an ankle injury cost him two weeks in January, a shoulder problem ended his season in February, and he underwent thoracic outlet decompression surgery that April in which doctors removed his top rib to relieve nerve compression to his right hand — 43 games in total. A left knee MCL strain cost about eight games in December 2017. The recent low game counts are different in kind: 61 games across two teams in 2024-25 and 43 across three in 2025-26 reflect midseason trades and rotation status, not health.

Trajectory: Twelve seasons of the same skill — a 6-foot-9 connector who passes, defends multiple positions and does not turn the ball over, with a career .480 from the field on almost no threes. The peak was 2020-21 in Memphis (12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists) and 2022-23 in Minnesota (4.9 assists in 28 minutes), and he has been a useful real-basketball rotation piece throughout. The fantasy problem has never been the efficiency, it is the usage: 6.8 career points and 0.4 threes per game means the counting stats never arrive even when the minutes do. He shot .530 in 2025-26, his best mark, and it produced 6.2 points. Toronto signed him for one year at $3.9 million as switchable frontcourt depth after Mamukelashvili and Mogbo left, which makes him roughly fourth or fifth in the big rotation. He matters in fantasy only in the specific week Poeltl or Murray-Boyles is out and Toronto uses him as a small-ball five — assists and stocks from a forward slot, and nothing else.
