Alex Morales

Alex Morales is a two-way wing with strong G League scoring, rebounding, steals, and shooting evidence, but no healthy-base NBA role in Orlando's crowded forward rotation.

Information cutoff: 2026-07-18. Two-way availability makes the NBA projection conditional.

Confidence: low on NBA volume, medium on the broad G League skill signal.

Established evidence

Orlando officially signed Morales to a two-way contract in February 2026. The release credited him with 19.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.17 steals per G League game while shooting .528 from the field, .413 from three, and .833 from the line.

On July 15, Morales added 13 points and 10 rebounds in Summer League. The G League line is more informative than one exhibition game, but both describe an active, productive wing rather than a single-skill specialist.

Role and pathway

Morales sits behind Wagner, Bane, da Silva, Penda, Cain, and situationally Black at the wing positions. His two-way status allows call-ups when injuries or transactions create a need. The most plausible NBA role is energetic reserve defense and rebounding with spot-up shooting.

His G League usage will not carry over directly. Against NBA lineups, a six-minute cameo offers only steals as a plausible single-game fantasy event. A multiweek 18-minute role would require several absences.

Evidence trail

Career record

Pre-NBA: Two seasons at Prince George's Community College (NJCAA), including 19.8 points, 11.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 2018-19 for Maryland JUCO Player of the Year. Then three seasons at Wagner (Northeast Conference), 74 games and 71 starts from 2019-22, averaging 15.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals. He was NEC Player of the Year twice (2021, 2022) and NEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 — a double only one other player in conference history has managed. Draft: undrafted (2022).

Post-college, before Orlando: Lakeland Magic (2022-23) and Osceola Magic (2023-24 onward) in the G League, with summer stints for Osos de Manatí in Puerto Rico's BSN in 2023 and 2024. His 2025-26 G League season was the one that earned the call: 18 games, 18 starts, 35.6 minutes, 19.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals on .528/.413/.833.

Four games, 24 total minutes. There is no meaningful NBA record here — the table exists only to record that he has debuted. Everything projectable about him comes from the G League line above.

Durability: Nothing to report. The 18-game G League season in 2025-26 reflects a February two-way signing, not absence.

Trajectory: A four-year G League grinder who finally converted a two-way at 28, after an unusual path through JUCO and a low-major conference. The G League production is genuinely broad — scoring, rebounding for a wing, playmaking, two-plus steals, and .413 from three on real volume — but it came at age 28 against G League defenses, which is the age at which that profile normally stops projecting. He turns 29 in November 2026 and sits behind Wagner, Bane, da Silva, Penda and Cain. He needs two simultaneous wing injuries to get a multi-week look, and the honest read is that he is Osceola's best player rather than an NBA rotation candidate.
