Shaedon Sharpe

Shaedon Sharpe is Portland's best young scoring bet, entering year one of a four-year, $90M extension behind Morant, Lillard and several veteran ball handlers.

64 29.0 .450 .800 2.1 19.2 4.2 2.5 1.2 0.2 2.4

Correction 2026-07-18: raised from 25.0 to 29.0 MPG and the counting stats re-derived. Two reasons. The team page's season-minute model left a fifth of the 19,680 available minutes assigned to nobody, and Sharpe is the primary beneficiary of any Morant or Lillard absence — a point the ceiling case below already conceded. Second, the contract is evidence against a 25-minute role: Portland is paying him $20,089,287 in 2026-27. Spotrac, accessed 2026-07-18

Role and evidence

Sharpe averaged 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 threes and 1.4 steals in 29.4 minutes across 50 games in 2025-26. ESPN, accessed 2026-07-18. A left-calf strain sidelined him after February 6; follow-up imaging found a left-fibula stress reaction, though he returned for the postseason. Sports Illustrated, 2026-02-25

He projects as the sixth man, splitting shooting-guard and small-forward minutes. The athletic scoring translates without full-time creation, but usage is the scarce resource. Hashtag ranks him No. 118 in dynasty, close to his 2025-26 category limitations despite age 23. Hashtag Basketball, updated 2026-07-02

Contract: Sharpe signed a four-year, $90,000,000 rookie-scale extension in October 2025, before the deadline that would have taken him to restricted free agency; Portland extended him and Toumani Camara (4yr/$82M) the same day. He is under contract through 2029-30 at $20.09M, $21.70M, $23.30M and $24.91M. There is no contract-year pressure and no extension decision pending. ESPN, 2025-10 · Spotrac, accessed 2026-07-18

Fantasy value

Range

Correction 2026-07-18: the value bands were raised with the minutes, and "extension talks, trade rumors" was removed from the swing variables. It was never live — the extension was signed in October 2025, and a player two months into a $90M deal is a costlier trade chip than the previous framing implied.

Career record

Pre-NBA: No college games. Sharpe attended H.B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario, then Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, then Dream City Christian in Arizona, where he averaged 21.4 points and 6.0 rebounds and finished as a consensus five-star and the top-ranked player in his class. He enrolled early at Kentucky in January 2022 intending to redshirt, never appeared in a game, and declared for the draft on April 21, 2022 — meaning he entered the NBA with no organized basketball since high school. There is no college or overseas statistical record to report. Draft: 2022, first round, seventh overall, Portland Trail Blazers; no draft-night trade.

Fantasy history: Season-end nine-category finishes are not verifiable from available sources for any of his four seasons, and none is asserted here. The category shape is stable and readable from the line itself: points and threes carry him, free-throw percentage has been a positive since year two, and blocks are effectively a zero (0.3, 0.4, 0.2, 0.1 — trending to nothing). Assists have never cleared 2.9 and turnovers reached 2.9 in 2025-26, which is why his points-league value runs ahead of his category value — a points format pays for the 20.8 scoring line without charging him for the turnover count or the empty block column.

Durability: 80, 32, 72, 50 games. The 80-game rookie year is the outlier, not the rule. A small labral tear in the left shoulder arrived in his Summer League debut on July 8, 2022. In 2023-24 he left a January 11 game against Oklahoma City with a lower abdominal strain, rehab stalled, and he had core muscle surgery at the Vincera Institute on February 9, 2024, missing the remaining 45 games. He then re-injured the same left shoulder in the first week of 2024-25 training camp — the labral tear again — costing him Summer League, the preseason and the first eight regular-season games. In 2025-26 a left calf strain sidelined him after February 6, and follow-up imaging on February 24 found a stress reaction in the left fibula with a 4-6 week timeline; he did return for the postseason. Four seasons, four distinct injuries, one of them a recurrence and one a bone stress reaction. This is the central risk on the profile and it is why a 64-game projection is generous rather than conservative.

Trajectory: The scoring growth is real and not a minutes illusion. Sharpe went from roughly 21.3 points per 36 in 2024-25 to about 25.5 in 2025-26 on identical .452 field-goal shooting, which means the gain came from volume and free-throw rate rather than accuracy, and the three-point mark recovered from .311 to .337 on rising attempts. That is the profile of a player whose shot-making is arriving on schedule for age 22. What has not moved is everything around it: assists are flat at about 3.2 per 36 across two seasons while turnovers climbed from roughly 2.4 to 3.6 per 36, so his playmaking is getting worse per possession even as his scoring improves — he is becoming a more effective finisher, not a creator. The 1.4 steals is the one line to distrust; it is nearly double his prior three-year rate over only 50 games and has no supporting trend. Given a Portland guard room now containing Morant and Lillard, the 2026-27 constraint is usage rather than ability, and with no college or pre-draft résumé to fall back on he is still a player whose development is being measured entirely in NBA seasons — of which injuries have cost him roughly a full year already.
