Dean Wade

Dean Wade is the cleanest schematic choice at Philadelphia's fifth starting spot, but low usage makes him a real-life fit and a fantasy streamer rather than a standard-league draft target.

Research cutoff: July 18, 2026. Team: Philadelphia 76ers. Role: projected starting power forward and multipositional defender.

2026-27 projection

GP MPG FG% (FGM/FGA) FT% (FTM/FTA) 3PM PTS REB AST STL BLK TO
62 23.0 .440 (2.2/5.0) .750 (0.3/0.4) 1.3 6.0 4.2 1.5 0.6 0.4 0.4

Wade's 2025-26 baseline was 59 games and 22.3 minutes with roughly .439/.711 shooting, 1.2 threes, 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 0.3 turnovers. The projection is deliberately boring because the stars need spacing and defense more than another creator. Hashtag dynasty/stat page, updated July 2, 2026

Health and uncertainty

Wade has a recurring history of lower-volume seasons and missed 23 games in 2025-26. No accessible July source reported an active restriction. Starting does not guarantee closing: Simons can replace him for offense, Bona for size, and Barlow for switching.

Confidence

Component Confidence Reason
Rotation place High Four-year, $39M non-taxpayer MLE contract
Starting status Medium-high Full-MLE term plus the Gansey connection, against Barlow's 59 starts and small-ball alternatives
Per-minute rates High Stable low-usage profile
Games played Medium No current restriction, modest prior absences

Correction 2026-07-18: starting status was rated Medium and the contract was described only as a "new multi-year deal." Reported terms are four years and $39M via the full non-taxpayer MLE with a partial Year 4 guarantee, and the signing was new president Mike Gansey's first, for a player he championed in Cleveland. Confidence raised to Medium-high and the bench floor raised from 12-16 to 14-18 minutes. Barlow's 59 starts in 2025-26 are recorded as the counter-evidence; projected minutes are unchanged at 23. Career record

Pre-NBA: Four years at Kansas State, 126 games and 12.0 points with 5.4 rebounds career. Big 12 All-Newcomer as a freshman in 2015-16 (9.9 points, 5.1 rebounds), 9.3 points as a sophomore, then a junior breakout in 2017-18 at 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds with first-team All-Big 12 honors. His senior year in 2018-19 produced 12.9 points and a team-high 6.2 rebounds and a second first-team All-Big 12 selection before a foot injury cut it short — an injury that is a plausible reason he was not drafted. Draft: undrafted (2019). Signed a two-way deal with Cleveland on July 9, 2019 and spent most of his rookie year with the Canton Charge, averaging 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in the G League.

Career three-point percentage is .367 across 342 games, with 160 starts. All seven seasons came with Cleveland; 2026-27 is his first outside the organization.

Durability: The defining pattern. Wade has never played more than 63 games in a season and has cleared 55 only twice — 12, 63, 51, 44, 54, 59 and 59. A right knee sprain cost him the final 11 games of 2023-24 and kept him out of Game 1 of that playoff series; a right knee bone bruise in January 2025 cost him multiple weeks, and an ankle sprain took two more weeks earlier that same season. He missed 23 games in 2025-26. No active restriction was reported as of July 2026, but a roughly 55-to-60-game expectation is the honest planning number, not 70.

Trajectory: Seven seasons of a completely stable low-usage profile: about 20 minutes, five to six points, three to four rebounds, one-plus three, 0.6 steals and almost no turnovers. He has never averaged more than 6.0 points in a season and his usage has never expanded, which is why the four-year, $39 million non-taxpayer MLE deal Philadelphia gave him in July 2026 is a statement about role certainty rather than production. He is being paid to space the floor and defend multiple positions next to the stars, and that is exactly what the seven-year record says he does. In fantasy he is a threes-rebounds-steals streamer with elite turnover economy and no scoring or blocks, roughly top-200 at best. He becomes a 14-team specialist only if his minutes push toward 27 and the threes approach two per game — realistically requiring an injury to a Philadelphia wing plus Dominick Barlow, who started 59 games in 2025-26, losing the power forward competition outright.
