Josh Oduro

Josh Oduro is an unrestricted free agent—not a current Pelican—retained here only because stale roster surfaces and his recent two-way tenure can otherwise create false 2026-27 projections.

Snapshot

2026-27 Pelicans projection

The authoritative New Orleans baseline is zero because Oduro is not under contract. A hypothetical re-signing at 8 MPG would project near .600 FG, .600 FT, 0.0 threes, 3.0 PTS, 2.7 REB, 0.4 AST, 0.2 STL, 0.4 BLK and 0.4 TO.

Role, floor and ceiling

Floor: unsigned or G League/international depth. Ceiling: a two-way or minimum deal elsewhere that turns his efficient rebounding/stocks profile into a 15-minute role. A Pelicans return is especially crowded behind Derik Queen, Yves Missi, Karlo Matković, DeAndre Jordan and Hunter Dickinson.

Transaction monitor

New Orleans signed Oduro to a two-way on March 4, but he became an unrestricted free agent after the club did not extend a qualifying offer. NBA G League announcement, 2026-03-04 · NBA options and qualifying-offer tracker, updated 2026-07-02 NBA.com's July 9 review also called him an outstanding free agent. NBA, 2026-07-09

Career record

Pre-NBA: Five college seasons, 148 games, 12.9 points and 6.6 rebounds on .527 shooting, with 1,913 career points and 976 rebounds. Four years at George Mason (Atlantic 10), earning first-team All-A-10 in both 2022 and 2023 and finishing there with 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 2022-23. Transferred to Providence (Big East) for 2023-24 and averaged 15.9 points and 7.3 rebounds on .527, ranking 10th in the conference in scoring, fifth in field-goal percentage and sixth in rebounding. Draft: undrafted (2024); signed with New Orleans on October 11, 2024, waived five days later, and joined the Birmingham Squadron on October 28. Spent two seasons in the G League; in 2025-26 he averaged 16.4 points, roughly 8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks in about 30 minutes, with a three-point rate well below replacement level.

Durability: No injury record worth reporting. The three-game NBA sample is a contract artifact, not a health one — he was signed to a two-way on March 4, 2026 with the season nearly over. He did not appear in New Orleans' first four Summer League games through July 15; the reason is not verified.

Trajectory: The record is a productive, efficient, undersized-skill-set college big who has proven he can dominate G League competition and has never been given an NBA sample worth reading. The three games are encouraging in the least meaningful way possible: 8.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 27 minutes on .647 shooting, across three games, on a team playing out the string. The structural problem is the shot — a big man who cannot stretch the floor and who posted no steals or blocks in his NBA minutes has a narrow path in the modern league, whatever his G League stock rates say. He is an unrestricted free agent with no 2026-27 team, so his New Orleans projection is genuinely zero, and a Pelicans return is the least likely outcome behind Queen, Missi, Matković, Jordan and Dickinson. He becomes fantasy-relevant only on a two-way or minimum deal elsewhere followed by a frontcourt injury, and even then he is a deep-league rebounding streamer.
