Bones Hyland

Bones Hyland is a microwave-scoring reserve guard with an established Minnesota rotation role, squeezed but not erased by an offseason of backcourt additions.

Correction 2026-07-18 This file previously called Hyland an "emergency guard whose fantasy relevance requires multiple injuries ahead of him," projected 45 GP / 10 MPG / 4.6 PTS on .430 shooting, and set his ceiling at "20 minutes during a Ball absence." That ceiling sat barely above his actual 2025-26 baseline of 16.6 MPG and 8.5 PTS for this same team, and the .430 FG% was 23 points below what he shot (Minnesota Sports Fan). Ball, Dosunmu and Green joining the perimeter justifies a real cut from that baseline, but not a collapse to single digits. Reset to 13 MPG with the shooting marks moved toward what he actually shot.

Floor and ceiling

Floor: the perimeter additions squeeze him to genuine emergency status, with DNP-CDs and fewer than 40 games. Ceiling: he holds something near the 16-17 minutes he just played, and a Ball absence pushes him to 24 with double-digit points and two threes. His low rebounds and defensive stats keep even that ceiling format-sensitive.

Risk monitor

Minnesota can fill backup creation through Dosunmu and Edwards, so Hyland does not own a protected role, and he is on a one-year minimum with no guarantee past the deadline. Zyon Pullin gives the team a two-way point-guard alternative, though Pullin's 50-game two-way cap limits how much of Hyland's role he could actually absorb.

Durability: No significant injury ledger; the thin GP seasons (37 in 2023-24, 24 in 2024-25) were rotation exile in LA β€” traded to Atlanta at the 2025 deadline, waived, then rescued on a Minnesota two-way β€” not health. 71 games in 2025-26 is the availability signal.

Trajectory: The record shows a bench microwave who scored double digits per game as a Denver first-rounder (All-Rookie 2nd Team in 2022), washed out of the Clippers rotation on sub-.40 shooting, and rebuilt his value in Minnesota with the most efficient season of his career (.453 FG, .388 3P in 16.6 MPG over 71 games). In 2026-27 he competes for the fourth-guard minutes behind Ball, Edwards and Dosunmu, with roughly 11-13 healthy-night minutes while DiVincenzo is out. He becomes fantasy-relevant only during a lead-guard absence, when a 24-minute run makes him a points-and-threes streamer; he holds no standing roster value.
