Jaime Jaquez Jr

Jaime Jaquez Jr. projects as Milwaukee's durable connector and secondary playmaker, with useful across-the-board volume but too few threes and defensive stats for an automatic nine-category breakout.

Team: Milwaukee Bucks · Position: SG/SF, possible PF · Age entering season: 25 · Experience: 3 seasons

Correction 2026-07-18: minutes and per-game line restated to match the rebuilt Milwaukee minute model. The prior team table spread 240 minutes across sixteen players, giving the top six only 146 and projecting every returning Buck below his own 2025-26 workload despite Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis vacating 53 minutes a night. This row moves from 24 to 28 MPG as part of that rebuild. Source: ESPN 2025-26 Milwaukee team stats.

Fantasy case

Jaquez averaged 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and shot .507 in 28.3 minutes across 75 games for Miami in 2025-26. He arrived in the Giannis package, and the NBA's July 15 analysis expects starter-level minutes. His passing is particularly important on a roster where Tyler Herro is the first scorer and Ryan Rollins is the primary guard creator.

The fantasy limitation is category shape. Jaquez made only about 0.8 threes per game and supplied 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks. Even excellent real-basketball minutes can yield merely mid-round fantasy value when three scarce categories stay light. A workload below his Miami 28.3 MPG is projected because Milwaukee has an extreme wing logjam.

Learning notes

Jaquez is a better NBA-floor projection than fantasy-ceiling projection. His clean path to a major fantasy jump requires not just more minutes, but improvement in threes or steals.

Career record

Pre-NBA: UCLA, four seasons (2019-20 through 2022-23). He grew from a 26.6-minute freshman starter (8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, .454 FG, .313 3P) into the Pac-12's best player: 12.3/6.1 on .486/.394 as a sophomore, 13.9/5.7 on .472/.276 as an injury-hampered junior, then 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals on .481/.317/.770 as a senior. Career: 134 games, 13.4 points, 6.3 rebounds. Consensus second-team All-American, Pac-12 Player of the Year and Lute Olson Award winner in 2023; All-Pac-12 first team in 2022 and 2023; Pac-12 All-Defensive team in 2021 and 2022. The three-point line was never his friend at any stop — he cleared 35 percent in exactly one college season. Draft: 2023, first round, 18th overall, Miami Heat; the only Pac-12 player taken in the first round that year.

Fantasy history: Season-end nine-category ranks are not verifiable from the sources available here, so no year-by-year finish is asserted. What the raw lines support: 2023-24 was fringe-standard value in 12-team formats (the counting stats were thin outside points and a 1.0 steal rate), 2024-25 was clearly droppable at 8.6 points in 20.7 minutes, and 2025-26 was the first season with genuine mid-round category value — but driven by field-goal percentage, assists and rebounds rather than any scarce category. The points-league shape is materially better than the category shape in every season: minutes plus assists plus efficient two-point volume score well in points formats, while 0.7-0.9 threes and a sub-0.5 combined steal-plus-block profile cap the nine-cat ceiling.

Durability: 75 games (2023-24), 66 (2024-25), 75 (2025-26) — 216 of a possible 246, about 88 percent. The 2024-25 dip was a mix of minor injuries and a genuine rotation demotion rather than one long absence. In 2025-26 he sprained his right ankle on January 3 against Minnesota when Julius Randle stepped on his foot, and sat out at least one March game (March 19 vs. the Lakers) with a hip issue; neither cost him extended time. He has never had a surgery-level absence in the NBA. Availability is a strength, not a question.

Trajectory: The arc is a rookie season of real minutes, a sophomore collapse, and a third-year rebound that was larger than a simple minutes recovery. Minutes in 2025-26 (28.3) were essentially identical to his rookie year (28.2), yet scoring rose 3.5 points and assists nearly doubled from 2.6 to 4.7 — that is a role and usage change, not a playing-time artifact, and the field-goal percentage climbing to .507 while scoring rose says the shot diet improved rather than merely expanded. The 2024-25 season now reads as the outlier: shooting cratered to .461 and Miami cut his minutes accordingly. What has not moved in three years is the three-point volume, stuck between 0.6 and 0.9 makes, and the steal rate actually declined to 0.7. At 25 he is entering the flat part of the aging curve for a non-shooting wing, so the honest projection is that the 2025-26 rates are close to his true talent rather than a waypoint. For 2026-27 the swing factor is Milwaukee's minutes, not further internal growth: if the wing logjam pushes him below 24 minutes, the 2024-25 shape returns.
