CJ Gunn

CJ Gunn is an undrafted 6-foot-7 wing on a reported Exhibit 10, with the positional size Golden State likes but a college efficiency profile that keeps him out of 2026-27 redraft consideration.

Status and role

Gunn signed with Golden State as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 draft, having worked out for the team in the pre-draft window (Heavy). Reporting describes the deal as a Summer League contract likely to be structured as an Exhibit 10, the same form as Nick Boyd and Graham Ike (SI). He appeared on the official Warriors Summer League roster. As with the other Exhibit 10s, no standard or two-way contract has been located, so the base case is zero NBA games.

At DePaul in 2025-26 he averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 32 games with 23 starts, shooting .399 from the field, .326 from three, and .725 at the line (ESPN). He was the first player to lead DePaul in scoring outright in consecutive seasons since Max Strus.

The scouting case is size and long-term 3-and-D projection; the statistical case is weaker. Leading a bottom-tier high-major offense at .399/.326 is volume without efficiency, and the three-point rate is the specific thing that has to move before the archetype works in the NBA. Golden State already carries Richard, Jones, and Leons in the same low-usage wing queue, and a Payton return further compresses the perimeter.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Four NCAA seasons. Two years buried at Indiana — 2.0 points in 7.5 minutes over 20 games as a freshman in 2022-23, then 3.9 points in 12.9 minutes across 29 games in 2023-24. Transferred to DePaul and became the primary scorer immediately: 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals in 26.5 minutes on .429/.303/.770 in 2024-25, then 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.6 blocks in 27.6 minutes on .399/.327/.725 in 2025-26. College career line: 113 games, 8.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, .398 from the field and .305 from three. He was the first player to lead DePaul outright in scoring in consecutive seasons since Max Strus. Draft: undrafted (2026); signed with Golden State as an undrafted free agent, reported as an Exhibit 10.

Gunn has never appeared in an NBA game. His most recent season is the 2025-26 DePaul line above.

Trajectory: Two seasons as a high-usage wing on a bottom-tier Big East offense, and the efficiency never followed the volume — he has shot 30.5% from three across 113 college games and never cleared 34% in a season. That is the specific number standing between him and the 3-and-D archetype his size suggests, and the 77.0% and 72.5% free-throw marks are not strong enough to promise it corrects. The encouraging signal is peripheral: steals in every season, blocks and assists both rising in his final year. He is behind Richard, Jones and Leons in the same low-usage wing queue with no standard or two-way deal located, so the base case is a waive into Santa Cruz. He becomes worth watching only if he takes a two-way slot out of camp and the three-point rate jumps in the G League — absent both, there is nothing here for 2026-27 fantasy.
