Correction 2026-07-18: base GP lowered from 62 to 50. The injury ledger correctly tiers Miller Red, but the projection assumed he plays 62 of 82, which only works if he returns by roughly mid-December. Charlotte ruled him out indefinitely after May 6, 2026 surgery for left shoulder instability, gave no recovery timeline, and did not confirm readiness for 2026-27; return to full strength after shoulder stabilisation conventionally runs six to twelve months, i.e. November 2026 at the earliest and potentially into the 2027 calendar year. The surgery also addressed a problem he played through all of 2025-26 in a wrap after missing 13 games to a late-October subluxation, so the shoulder is a chronic case rather than a single acute event. Treat 50 as the centre of a wide distribution with a real 35-or-fewer downside branch. ESPN · NBA/AP
Nine-category: top 30-45 when active; the high FT%, threes, and useful stocks offset only average FG%. Points: top 25-40 upside because shot and assist volume matter more than efficiency. Dynasty: top 20-35 core asset, with the range widened by two straight surgery-affected seasons.
Why the role can jump
LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges are gone, removing Charlotte's two largest veteran creation loads. Post-Ball analysis from Josh Lloyd placed Miller around 29-30% usage before Bridges was subsequently traded, so that estimate may be conservative. White is the nominal point guard, but Miller is the most plausible team scoring leader and should initiate more pick-and-rolls.
The trade-off is defensive attention. Ball generated high-quality catch-and-shoot looks; Miller will now see top wing defenders and more late-clock possessions. A jump into the mid-20s in scoring does not require a huge efficiency gain, but top-25 category value probably does.
Health and range
Miller missed 17 games in 2025-26, chiefly because of recurrent left-shoulder instability, and underwent surgery on May 6. Charlotte expects a full recovery but has not published a return date. This follows the right-wrist injury and surgery that limited him to 27 games in 2024-25.
- Ceiling: 68-72 games; 25 PTS, 3.8-4.0 threes, 5.5 REB, 4.5 AST and roughly 1.8 stocks. That is top-20-to-30 value in both categories and points.
- Median: near the table above—an early-round per-game player whose total-season value lands a round or two later.
- Floor: rehabilitation delays camp or instability recurs; 45-52 games and an outside-top-80 totals finish despite strong active-game scoring.
Market check
Alex Barutha ranked Miller No. 33 in a July 14 rough redraft top 100. ESPN had him No. 51 in April points rankings, before Ball and Bridges left and before the shoulder operation. Hashtag's July dynasty table placed him No. 57, while its crowd keeper board had him No. 27; Dynatyze showed No. 47 on July 18 but still carried stale team labels elsewhere. The honest read is early-round upside with a medical discount, not a settled consensus rank.

Career record
Pre-NBA: Alabama, one season (2022-23). He averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 32.6 minutes across 37 games on .430/.384/.859 — the free-throw stroke and the rebounding rate for a wing were both already in place. He swept the SEC's honors as a freshman: SEC Player of the Year, SEC Rookie of the Year, first-team All-SEC, SEC Tournament MVP, consensus second-team All-American, NABC and USBWA National Freshman of the Year, and the Wayman Tisdale Award. Draft: 2023, first round, second overall by Charlotte; no draft-night trade.

Three-point percentage by season: .373, .355, .383.
Fantasy history: No independently verifiable season-end nine-category finish was found for any of Miller's three seasons; the roughly No. 56 per-game figure cited in this dossier's snapshot could not be confirmed against a public season-end table, so treat it as an estimate rather than a settled number. The shape is clearer than the rank. He is a positive in threes, free-throw percentage and points with genuinely useful wing stocks, roughly neutral in rebounds and assists for the position, and a real negative in turnovers at 2.5-2.8 per game. Field-goal percentage has been the swing category: .440 in year one was tolerable, .403 in the 27-game 2024-25 sample was actively damaging, and .435 in 2025-26 sits near break-even. Points leagues have consistently valued him higher than categories because volume scoring and shot attempts are rewarded and the turnovers cost proportionally less.
Durability: 74, 27, 65 — 166 of a possible 246 games, two-thirds availability across three seasons, and both lost seasons ended in surgery. 2023-24's eight absences are not traceable to a single documented injury in available reporting. 2024-25 opened with a strained left glute that cost time in late October, and ended on 2025-01-23 when he had surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist, closing the season at 27 games. 2025-26 broke the same way at the other end: he subluxated his left shoulder in Charlotte's second game, at Philadelphia, missed 13 straight games before returning in late November, and played the remaining schedule in a shoulder wrap. He had surgery on 2026-05-06 to address the left shoulder instability, with a full recovery expected but no published return date as of this writing.
Trajectory: The per-game improvement is real and mostly independent of minutes — points per minute rose from 0.54 as a rookie to 0.67 in 2025-26 while minutes actually fell from 32.2 to 30.3, so the scoring gain came from usage and shot diet, not playing time. The free-throw line is where the development is least ambiguous: .827 to .861 to .892 with the volume holding, which is a skill trend rather than a sample artifact. The unresolved question is field-goal percentage; he has never cleared .440 in a season, and his shot profile leans heavily on contested threes and long twos that a higher-usage 2026-27 role will make harder, not easier. He turns 24 in November, so the aging curve argues for continued improvement — the constraint on his 2026-27 value is not skill development but the 166-game body of work and a second consecutive offseason spent recovering from surgery. The honest read is that his per-game ceiling and his games-played floor are moving in opposite directions.

Open questions
- Will Charlotte clear Miller for full contact before camp and remove any opening-night restriction?
- Does increased creation raise his assists enough to offset the likely efficiency cost?
