Role and evidence
Phoenix traded two established spacers for Miles Bridges and now projects Booker beside Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Bridges, and Mark Williams. Booker is the only elite organizer in that five, so the base case raises his assists from 6.0 in 2025-26 to 6.6 even while four teammates can score. Collin Gillespie handles more second-unit initiation and can close when Phoenix needs shooting, but he is not a Booker replacement.
Booker's 2025-26 fantasy baseline was 26.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks; the modest defensive line was the central constraint in category leagues. He shot .456 from the field and .873 at the line across 64 games. Source: Hashtag Basketball dynasty database, updated 2026-07-02. Confidence: medium-high; third-party statistics should be reconciled to NBA totals before final draft day.
The official team reporting described a January right-ankle sprain as a roughly one-week interruption; a later right-hip strain cost another short stretch. Neither event is treated as an unresolved surgery, but 66 GP is more defensible than an 82-game durability assumption. Sources: NBA ankle report, 2026-01-24, NBA trade-deadline feature noting return, updated 2026-02-05. Confidence: high on events, medium on future availability.
Category shape
- Wins: Points, free-throw percentage/volume, assists, threes.
- Neutral: Field-goal percentage is useful for a high-volume guard but not elite.
- Costs: Turnovers and below-elite stocks cap the first-round path.
- Build fit: Excellent with low-turnover bigs and defensive specialists. Less valuable in punt-assists than his raw rank suggests.
Points and dynasty outlook
ESPN's April way-too-early points board ranked Booker No. 28, before Phoenix's July roster changes. That is a fair neutral anchor; the new roster can lift assists but also distribute scoring across Green, Brooks, and Bridges. Source: ESPN 2026-27 points rankings, 2026-04-14. Confidence: medium as market context.
Dynatyze's July 18 board gives Booker the displayed rank No. 30, and Hashtag's July dynasty board had him No. 26. The range captures the correct dynasty tension: secure franchise role and bankable production versus age-30-season valuation and limited stocks. Sources: Dynatyze, updated 2026-07-18, Hashtag Basketball, updated 2026-07-02. Confidence: medium; rankings are market references, not consensus truth.
Floor, base, ceiling
- Floor: 55-60 games, 24-25 points and about six assists if ankle/hip problems recur or Phoenix uses more shared creation.
- Base: 66 games with the projection above; second-to-third-round value in nine-cat and a stable points-league anchor.
- Ceiling: 72-plus games, seven-plus assists, 27 points, and a steal per game. That can approach the late first round, but requires both health and a modest defensive-stat rebound.
Draft verdict
Booker is the cleanest Sun by a wide margin. Pay for a top-30 outcome, not a rosy first-round ceiling. His category profile becomes more valuable after pairing him with a high-block center or a steals forward, and his assist projection should be monitored against Phoenix's camp starting lineup.
Career record
Pre-NBA: Kentucky, one season (2014-15). He came off the bench for a 38-1 team that lost in the Final Four, playing 38 games at 21.5 MPG for 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists, leading the Wildcats with 1.5 threes per game at .411 from deep. SEC Sixth Man of the Year, All-SEC second team, SEC All-Freshman. College field-goal and free-throw percentages not verified here. Draft: 2015, first round, No. 13, Phoenix Suns; no draft-night trade.

Fantasy history: Season-end nine-category ranks from a rater source could not be verified for any individual season, so no year-by-year number is given here rather than an estimate. The structural fact is stable and matters more than the exact rank: Booker's points-league finish has consistently sat well ahead of his category finish, because points formats pay him fully for volume scoring and assists while nine-cat docks him for roughly a steal, a quarter-block and three turnovers a night. He has never been a category-league first-rounder despite scoring like one. ESPN's preseason 2025-26 category board placed him 24th, which is the right neighborhood for how the market prices him. Durability: GP by season: 76, 78, 54, 64, 70, 67, 68, 53, 68, 75, 64. Two seasons above 75 in eleven years, and six seasons in the 53-70 band. The 2022-23 dip was a left groin strain that cost roughly three weeks in December-January plus a later recurrence. In 2025-26 he missed three separate stretches, all on the right side: a right ankle sprain in late January 2026 that cost about seven games, a right groin strain, and a right hip strain immediately after the All-Star break that cost four more. Phoenix was 5-7 in the twelve games he missed. Nothing required surgery, but the pattern of soft-tissue events clustered on one leg at age 29 is the reason a 66-game projection is more honest than an 75-game one.
Trajectory: Booker's real leap was 2018-19, when Phoenix handed him the offense and his assists jumped from 4.7 to 6.8 — that was role, not skill, and it came with 4.1 turnovers. The genuine improvement arrived 2019-21 under a competent roster: efficiency climbed from the low .420s to .489 while usage stayed high, which is the signature of better shot selection rather than more shots. From 2021-22 through 2024-25 he held a remarkably flat plateau of 25-28 points on .46-.49 shooting, with the assist total moving up and down with whoever else was on the floor. The 2025-26 line is the first genuine step down: minutes fell 3.8, threes made dropped to a career-low-since-rookie 1.9 on .330 shooting, and field-goal percentage slid for a second straight year. That is an aging-curve signal, not noise, and at 29 turning 30 the base case for 2026-27 is continued slow erosion in efficiency and volume with assists as the one category that can still rise if he is the only organizer in the lineup. The stocks have never come and will not start now.
