Rocco Zikarsky

Rocco Zikarsky is a raw two-way center whose blocks and rebounding make him a long-horizon dynasty lottery ticket rather than a 2026-27 redraft option.

Floor and ceiling

Floor: spends the year developing physically in Iowa. Ceiling: short NBA call-ups at 12-15 minutes when Gobert or Beringer is unavailable, with one-plus block per game but damaging FT%.

Risk monitor

Zikarsky is raw, positionally blocked, and limited by two-way status. His path improves if Minnesota does not use an open standard slot on a veteran center, but Beringer remains the first developmental big in line.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Australian, 7-foot-3, no college. Two seasons with the Brisbane Bullets of Australia's NBL — the country's top professional league — as an NBL Next Star, the developmental program for NBA-bound prospects. 2023-24: 27 games, 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 7.0 minutes on .597 shooting. 2024-25: 18 games, 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 11.8 minutes on .524. Both were low-usage bench roles against grown professionals while he was 17 and 18. Draft: 2025, second round, 45th overall, Chicago; rights traded to Minnesota. Signed a two-way contract with the Iowa Wolves.

Five games is not a sample. The perfect free-throw mark is 4-for-4 across the whole season and should not be read as evidence about his stroke. He debuted February 22, 2026 against Philadelphia; his best game was 8 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 20 minutes at New Orleans on April 13.

The meaningful 2025-26 record is the G League one: 15.8 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 27.4 minutes for Iowa on 53% shooting, with a March run of 19.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.2 blocks including a 21/14/7 and a 25/10/6 against Texas.

Durability: No injury history located. The five NBA games reflect two-way call-up rules and a depth chart, not availability.

Trajectory: Zikarsky turned 20 in July 2026, which makes him one of the youngest players in the league and puts the raw NBL production in context — he was a teenager playing spot minutes in a men's professional league, not a failed prospect. The G League year is the real signal, and it is loud in exactly the categories his frame promises: near a double-double with 2.8 blocks, and 5.2 blocks a game across March. The gap between that and NBA minutes is foul control and the physical strength to hold position against starters. He is blocked twice over in Minnesota, behind Rudy Gobert and with Joan Beringer ahead of him as the first developmental big. He matters in 2026-27 only if Minnesota declines to add a veteran center and both bigs ahead of him miss time simultaneously; the real case for holding him is the 2028-and-later one.
