Kel'el Ware

Kel'el Ware is Milwaukee's highest-upside young fantasy asset: a double-double and stocks center whose ceiling depends on whether he can share enough floor time with Myles Turner.

Team: Milwaukee Bucks · Position: C, possible PF/C · Age entering season: 22 · Experience: 2 seasons

Base projection

GP MPG PTS 3PM REB AST STL BLK FG% (FGA) FT% (FTA) TO
74 28 14.5 1.4 11.0 1.0 0.9 1.4 .535 (10.6) .740 (1.9) 1.2

Correction 2026-07-18: raised from 24 to 28 MPG and repriced accordingly. The 24-minute figure sat 1.9 minutes above the backup role he played behind Bam Adebayo in Miami, which is not defensible for a 22-year-old acquired as the centerpiece young asset of a rebuild that just lost 53 frontcourt-adjacent minutes a night in Giannis and Bobby Portis. Yahoo's post-trade lineup projection starts him at center outright; SI's Bucks site has him as the first big off the bench and Roundtable starts him at power forward beside Turner. All three readings give him more than 22.1. Source: Yahoo lineup projection. - Eligibility watch: C is certain; PF eligibility would materially improve roster flexibility.

Fantasy case

Ware averaged 11.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 threes in only 22.1 minutes across 77 games in 2025-26. The Bucks acquired him in the Giannis package, and the NBA's new-era analysis expects starter-level opportunity. His production profile already contains every fantasy-center ingredient except assists.

Myles Turner is both obstacle and complement. If Jenkins staggers them exclusively at center, Ware sits nearer 24 minutes. If Ware can defend power forwards and Turner spaces above the break, 28-30 is the working number, and a Turner trade — Toronto, Atlanta and Charlotte have been linked — pushes it past 32. Milwaukee's rebuilding timeline favors testing that combination rather than protecting a conventional lineup, and Turner is the party more likely to be moved.

High Turner traded and Ware absorbs 32+ MPG 17-18 PTS, 12 REB, 1.7 BLK; top 25-40

Learning notes

Ware's low-turnover rebounds-and-stocks profile gives him a playable floor even at 22-24 minutes, and the base case is now well above that. His draft-winning path is entirely legible: power-forward eligibility, successful Turner-Ware lineups, or a Turner trade. The mistake to avoid is the one this file previously made — treating his Miami minutes as a ceiling when they were a function of playing behind an All-Defensive center on a win-now roster.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Two college seasons at two schools. Oregon 2022-23: 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks in 15.8 minutes over 35 games with 4 starts, .457 FG and .712 FT — a five-star recruit who never earned a rotation role and drew public criticism from the staff over work rate. He transferred to Indiana for 2023-24 and started all 30 games: 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.9 blocks in 32.1 minutes on .586 FG, .425 from three and .634 FT, leading the team in points, rebounds and blocks, taking All-Big Ten second team and Big Ten All-Defensive team. The one-year jump from bench big to conference-level double-double center is the reason he went in the lottery on a two-season sample. Draft: 2024, first round, 15th pick, Miami Heat. He was traded to Milwaukee in July 2026 as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo package.

He made the 2025 All-Rookie second team and was Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for January 2025. Both seasons were split between starting and bench roles — 36 starts in 64 games as a rookie, 34 in 77 as a sophomore — which is the central fact about his usage so far.

Fantasy history: 2024-25 was a streaming and deep-league season; the per-minute rebounding and blocks were already there but 22 minutes off a fluctuating role capped the per-game totals. 2025-26 was his first genuinely rosterable year in 12-team formats, but season-end 9-category ranks are not published free and a specific number is not verified here. What the components support: 9.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 0.8 steals and 1.2 threes on .530 shooting from a player who took only 22 minutes a night is a per-minute top-40 profile trapped in a per-game top-100-ish body. The points-league shape is slightly worse than the category shape — his value is concentrated in rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage, which categories reward as scarce and points formats treat as ordinary, and he supplies almost no assists and only modest scoring volume.

Durability: 64, 77. The rookie year's 18 missed games came from a string of separate minor problems rather than one event: a right ankle sprain in November 2024, a hip issue in late December, a hamstring strain in late January 2025, a shoulder strain, and a right knee sprain in early March 2025. The 2025-26 absences were far fewer — the documented one is a right hamstring strain reported January 24, 2026 that cost him a weekend back-to-back. Nothing structural, no surgery, and the year-over-year move from 64 to 77 games is the direction you want at 21. Availability is not the constraint on his fantasy value; minutes are.

Trajectory: Two seasons, and the improvement is real rather than minutes-driven — his minutes were flat (22.2 to 22.1) while points went from 9.3 to 11.1 and rebounds from 7.4 to 9.0, which means the per-minute rates moved, not the opportunity. The specific change was the three-point shot: 0.5 makes at 31.5% as a rookie, 1.2 makes at 39.5% as a sophomore, which is what dropped his field goal percentage from .554 to .530 and simultaneously made him a plausible power forward. The free-throw line moved the same way, .687 to .740. What has not moved is playing time, and that is now the entire investment thesis: at 22 he has a two-year track record of producing a near-double-double in bench-center minutes, and the gap between his per-minute output and his per-game output is larger than almost any center in this range. Milwaukee acquired him as a foundational piece of a rebuild, which argues for the minutes finally arriving, but Myles Turner is the same position and a better current player, so the 2026-27 outcome is a genuine fork rather than a projection.
