Caris LeVert

Caris LeVert is a veteran secondary creator acquired in July, but the post-Giannis roster gives him neither secure minutes nor a category-efficient path to standard-league value.

Team: Milwaukee Bucks · Position: SG/SF · Age entering season: 32 · Experience: 10 seasons

Correction 2026-07-18: minutes and per-game line restated to match the rebuilt Milwaukee minute model. The prior team table spread 240 minutes across sixteen players, giving the top six only 146 and projecting every returning Buck below his own 2025-26 workload despite Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis vacating 53 minutes a night. This row moves from 6 to 12 conditional MPG as part of that rebuild. Source: ESPN 2025-26 Milwaukee team stats.

Fantasy case

LeVert averaged 7.4 points, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 19.2 minutes across 60 games in 2025-26. Milwaukee acquired him with second-round picks for Taurean Prince and Gary Harris on July 8. The picks and salary structure may matter as much as LeVert's on-court role.

Low case: waived, traded, or DNP-heavy. Base: six minutes of emergency creation. High: injuries or consolidation restore 20+ minutes, creating assists-and-stocks streaming value. His historical FG% and FT% volatility keep him less attractive in nine-cat than in deep points formats.

Learning notes

LeVert is valuable as evidence of Milwaukee's transaction flexibility, not as a draft target. Watch for a clean 18-minute role before treating his name recognition as fantasy relevance.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Michigan, four seasons (2012-16): 2.3 PPG as a freshman, 12.9/4.3/2.9 as a sophomore (second-team All-Big Ten), then injury-shortened junior (14.9 PPG, 18 GP) and senior (16.5 PPG, 15 GP) years — three foot surgeries in 22 months, ending with a Jones fracture. Draft: 2016, round 1, pick 20, Indiana Pacers; traded on draft night to Brooklyn for Thaddeus Young.

Durability: Has never played more than 74 games. The file is long: three college foot surgeries; a right-leg subtalar dislocation in November 2018 (42 games missed); a thumb injury in 2019-20; renal cell carcinoma discovered in the January 2021 Harden-trade physical, with tumor surgery that month. Since 2022-23 he has been steadier (74, 68, 64, 60 games) with rotation-status rather than injury driving the recent dips.

Trajectory: A decade-long slide from fringe All-Star candidate (20.2 PPG in 2020-21) to bench creator: scoring has fallen five straight seasons since that peak, and 2025-26 (7.4 PPG on .417 in 19 minutes) was the worst full season of his career. What survives is the secondary playmaking and stocks — around 1.0 steals with rising block numbers. In 2026-27 he competes for Milwaukee's second-unit handling role on a post-Giannis roster that acquired him as much for salary and picks as for play. He becomes fantasy-relevant only if he holds a clean 18-20 minute role, which would make him an assists-and-stocks deep-league stream; his FG% makes anything more a points-league-only case.
