Ryan Conwell

Conwell is Miami's best young shooting bet, but the No. 37 pick still needs to win a crowded specialist role before he belongs on ordinary redraft rosters.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Four college seasons at four schools, with the shooting improving as the level of competition rose.

Season School GP MPG PTS REB AST STL FG% 3P% FT%
2022-23 South Florida 32 18.5 5.1 1.9 1.9 — .340 .300 .820
2023-24 Indiana State — — 16.6 5.8 2.5 1.1 .480 .410 .860
2024-25 Xavier — — 16.5 2.7 2.5 1.3 .450 .410 .830
2025-26 Louisville — 30.9 18.8 4.8 2.7 1.1 .408 .345 .832

Across 138 college games (all but 11 as a starter) he averaged 14.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists, and he was All-ACC second team as a senior at Louisville. Per-game minutes for the Indiana State and Xavier seasons were not verified and are omitted rather than estimated. Draft: 2026, round 2, pick 37, Oklahoma City Thunder; rights traded to Miami, which signed him to a reported three-year deal worth about $1.36 million in year one.

Conwell has never appeared in an NBA regular-season game. His only professional action is the 2026 Summer League, where he opened with 21 points and followed with 16 on 6-of-18 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal before Miami sent him home early.

Durability: Nothing to report. He played all 32 games as a freshman and started nearly every game of a four-year college career with no significant reported absences.

Trajectory: The résumé is a movement shooter who put up 40%-plus from three across two mid-major and Big East seasons, then took a volume-and-difficulty step up at Louisville and shot 34.5% doing it — a real skill, with the caveat that his efficiency fell as defenses got better. Miami paid a small price to move up for him and gave him a standard multi-year contract rather than a two-way, which is a signal, but Hardaway, Larsson and Fontecchio all occupy the shooting-wing minutes ahead of him. He becomes fantasy-relevant only if injury or a trade clears two of those veterans and Miami decides to develop rather than sign a replacement, which would put him in an 18-to-22-minute three-point specialist role.
