Quinten Post

Quinten Post has a fantasy-friendly center skill mix—threes, rebounds and some blocks—and a $30 million contract that argues for a real backup-center role rather than the token one his depth-chart position implies.

Correction 2026-07-18 Raised from 9 to 14 base minutes and 3.9 to 6.4 points. The prior line treated him as a token third center, which is inconsistent with two facts already on this page: Memphis paid $30 million for him, and Edey is projected for only 57 games after two ankle surgeries and an elbow procedure. Post played 17.3 MPG in 67 games for a playoff Golden State team; 14 minutes behind an injury-prone starter on a rebuilding team is the conservative reading, not the aggressive one. Nine-category: roughly top 180-235 per game at base; a genuine threes/blocks/rebounds streamer whenever Edey sits. Points: schedule and injury-dependent. Dynasty: deep hold because stretch centers preserve roles well.

Range and risks

NBA.com's signing report gives the deal, the 67-game baseline and Memphis frontcourt context. The contract supports roster security and argues for role; it does not resolve why three rotation centers were assembled. NBA.com, 2026-07-09

Confidence

Component Label Reason

Minutes Medium Three credible centers compete, but the contract and Edey's availability both point up.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Dutch, born in Amsterdam and developed at Apollo Amsterdam, where he won a national under-18 title in 2018. Two buried years at Mississippi State (1.1 and 2.8 points), then three at Boston College: 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 2021-22, 15.1 and 5.6 on .539/.426 in an injury-shortened 19-game 2022-23 that still won him ACC Most Improved Player, and 17.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 blocks on .514/.431/.821 in 31.9 minutes as a fifth-year senior — second-team All-ACC and ACC All-Defensive. Draft: 2024, second round, 52nd overall, Golden State Warriors; the first Dutch player drafted since 2009.

Durability: 42 games as a rookie, but that reflects a mid-season two-way-to-standard promotion and Santa Cruz time, not injury. 67 games with 35 starts in 2025-26 with no significant absence identified. His only notable missed time was the 19-game 2022-23 college season.

Trajectory: Two seasons of a narrow but real NBA skill: a 7-foot center who takes and makes threes, keeps turnovers under one, and rebounds adequately. The three-point rate is the whole case, and it moved the wrong way — .408 as a rookie on lower volume, .336 in 2025-26 on more. Field-goal percentage in the low .440s is poor for a center and caps his usefulness in nine-cat. Memphis paid $30 million over three years, which buys roster security and argues for something better than a token role, but Edey and Stewart are both ahead of or level with him. He becomes a genuine threes/rebounds/blocks streamer the moment Edey misses time — a real possibility given two ankle surgeries and an elbow procedure — and a 24-minute starter if that absence is extended.
