Nine-cat: outside the top 200 at median minutes, with deep-league steals appeal only. Points: D+. Dynasty: 5.5/10. Opening-night allocation: 11 minutes.
Correction 2026-07-18: Richard's allocation is cut from 15 minutes to 11 and his median MPG from 16.0 to 13.0. ESPN's Anthony Slater reported July 10 that Golden State and Gary Payton II have mutual interest in another one-year minimum (SI); a returning Payton is a direct competitor for exactly the low-usage perimeter-defense minutes Richard was holding. The nine-cat and points grades move down with the minutes.
Role and evidence
Richard averaged 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 20.0 minutes over 69 games, shooting .468 FG, .335 from three, and .852 FT (ESPN). In 21 starts, his role rose to roughly 24 minutes with stronger counting stats, which is the relevant contingency rather than his full-season bench line.
The opening-night model gives him nine small-forward minutes and two at shooting guard because Butler and Moody are unavailable. Melton, Santos, Podziemski, Lendeborg, and now an expected Payton return all project ahead of him, so the minutes are vulnerable to any further veteran signing and to Butler's return.
Richard's steal rate and low turnovers can help deep nine-cat rosters. He needs either improved three-point accuracy or a 24-minute role to become a standard-league option; low assists and blocks cap all-around value.
Range
- Ceiling: starts through the first half, approaches 24 MPG, 9 points, 1.5 threes, and 1.2 steals.
- Median: 16-minute reserve and matchup streamer.
- Floor: Lendeborg/Santos absorb all forward minutes or an acquisition pushes him below 10 MPG.
Career record
Pre-NBA: Belmont one season (2021-22: 12.1 PTS / 6.0 REB, .468 FG, OVC all-newcomer team), then Florida three seasons (2022-25), finishing 13.3 PTS / 4.6 REB on .359 3P as a senior; scored 18 points in the 2025 NCAA title-game win over Houston. Draft: 2025, Round 2, Pick 56 (selected by Memphis, traded to Golden State).

Durability: 69 of 82 as a rookie with no injury history flagged in college or the NBA; a durable four-year college starter (141 games, 135 starts).
Trajectory: The record shows a second-round rookie who immediately earned real minutes (20.0 MPG, 21 starts) on defense, steals, and low-mistake play — the 1.2 steals in 20 minutes is a genuinely good rate — while the .335 three-point mark lagged his college shooting and his .852 FT touch. In 2026-27 he competes for the reserve wing-defender minutes squeezed by a possible Gary Payton II return and, eventually, Butler's return from injury. He becomes fantasy-relevant if injuries push him back toward a ~24-minute starting role and his three-point percentage moves toward the mid-to-high .30s he showed at Florida; otherwise he is a deep-league steals stream.
