Status and evidence
Williams filled Golden State's final two-way slot in February 2026 (San Francisco Chronicle). He averaged 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 0.9 threes in 17.1 minutes over 14 games, shooting .489 FG and .433 from three (ESPN). The league's 2026 options tracker listed him among qualifying-offer cases (NBA.com), but no completed 2026-27 deal was found.
This dossier therefore separates two questions: whether Golden State retains his rights, and what he could produce if activated. At 27, the case is immediate depth rather than long-term development. Cryer, Melton, Podziemski, and Richard all have clearer guard paths.
Range
- Ceiling: retained on a two-way or minimum deal and reaches 15 MPG during a Curry/Melton absence.
- Median: no Warriors NBA games; conditional call-up line above if retained.
- Floor: signs elsewhere or remains in the G League without fantasy impact.
Career record
Pre-NBA: Four seasons at Buffalo (2018-22), where he grew from a 3.2-point freshman into a 19.1-point, 5.0-rebound, 2.9-assist senior and first-team All-MAC selection in 2021-22, after 17.6/6.8/2.4 and second-team All-MAC as a junior. Born February 12, 1999 in Rochester, New York; listed 6'5". Draft: undrafted (2022). He has since worked through the G League with the Salt Lake City Stars, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Long Island Nets, converting to NBA deals with Portland, Houston and Golden State.

Durability: Not an injury question. The low game totals are roster and assignment decisions — 61 NBA appearances across four seasons, spent mostly on two-way deals with the bulk of his minutes in the G League.
Trajectory: Four years of end-of-bench churn with one genuinely encouraging stretch: after Golden State signed him to its final two-way slot in February 2026 he shot 48.9% from the field and 43.3% from three across 14 games, including an 18-point night against the Clippers. That is a 14-game sample from a 27-year-old, not a breakout, and the shooting percentages are the thing most likely to regress. His 2026-27 status is unresolved — no completed deal was found — and even if retained he sits behind Podziemski, Melton, Cryer and Richard. He is a waiver-wire name only if he is re-signed and a Curry or Melton absence opens 15-plus minutes.

Open questions
- Did Golden State tender and maintain Williams' qualifying rights?
- Is he eligible and preferred for another two-way structure?
- Can the small-sample 43.3% NBA three-point shooting persist?
