Nine-cat: deep-league three-point streamer only. Points: D. Dynasty: 3.0/10. Opening-night allocation: 2 minutes.
Correction 2026-07-18: allocation cut from four minutes to two and the games median from 30 to 24, following ESPN's July 10 report of mutual interest between Golden State and Gary Payton II on another one-year minimum (SI). A Payton signing also consumes a standard roster spot, which tightens the two-way and camp competition behind him.
Role and evidence
Cryer averaged 8.2 points and 2.1 threes in 16.2 minutes over 18 NBA games, shooting .394 from three but contributing only 1.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 0.2 steals (ESPN). The current NBA team page and ESPN roster both display him; the exact carryover guarantee should still be verified before camp.
The representative rotation uses Cryer for two point-guard minutes because Butler and Moody are unavailable and Seth Curry is unsigned. His path expands sharply during Curry absences, but Podziemski and Melton remain the first two contingency creators.
Threes and strong FT% are the useful categories. Low defensive events, rebounds, and assists mean added minutes do not automatically create balanced fantasy value.
Range
- Ceiling: Curry misses time and Cryer reaches 18 MPG, producing two threes and 9-10 points.
- Median: shuttle guard whose NBA appearances come in short, matchup-specific bursts.
- Floor: final two-way competition or another guard signing removes his NBA role.
Career record
Pre-NBA: Five college seasons, three at Baylor and two at Houston. He was a 20-game reserve on Baylor's 2021 national title team (3.4 points), broke out at 13.5 points on 46.8% from three in an injury-shortened 2021-22, then went 15.0 points on .453/.415/.894 as a full-time starter in 2022-23. He transferred to Houston and started every game for two years: 15.5 points on .411/.388/.871 in 2023-24, then 15.7 points on .411/.424/.895 in 2024-25, reaching the national championship game and earning third-team All-America and first-team All-Big 12. Draft: undrafted (2025). Signed with Golden State, opened 2025-26 in Santa Cruz, and was converted to a two-way contract on December 2, 2025. Over the seven-game G League stretch that earned the call-up he averaged 24.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 34.1 minutes on 41.4% from three while leading the league in made threes.

Durability: 18 NBA games in 2025-26, but that is a two-way service-day and assignment number, not a health number — he was not converted until December and spent the rest of the year shuttling to Santa Cruz. No reported injury absence at either level.
Trajectory: A 6-0 guard who does one NBA-caliber thing and does it well: 2.1 threes in 16 minutes on 39.4%, plus 89.5% from the line. Everything else in the box score is close to zero — 1.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.2 steals, no blocks — so extra minutes convert into threes and points and nothing else, which caps the nine-cat profile even in the good scenario. The G League numbers show he can run an offense at that level; the NBA sample shows Golden State has used him strictly as a shooter. He is a deep-league three-point stream, and only when Golden State's guard rotation is thinned by injury and he is on an NBA-active assignment at the same time. If the Warriors add another minimum guard, that window closes.
