Ebuka Okorie

Ebuka Okorie is Detroit's most important dynasty addition: an explosive scoring guard with a real path to backup creation, but rookie efficiency and an incumbent in Daniss Jenkins make his 2026-27 redraft role volatile.

Role and evidence

Detroit selected Okorie 17th and signed him on July 6. His official NBA draft profile records 23.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.7 steals, and .465/.354/.832 shooting in 35.2 minutes at Stanford. The profile highlights downhill scoring, ball security, and plausible immediate minutes while still projecting long-term development.

Summer League strengthened the role case without proving NBA readiness: he posted 20 points and four assists in his debut, seven assists in his second game, and 27 points in his final appearance. That final link is a community box-score post, useful as a dated lead rather than an independent projection.

Jenkins should begin as the safer backup; Okorie's speed and scoring give him the higher ceiling. His 13-minute season estimate includes injury replacement and second-half growth, while the fully healthy opening rotation gives him only four minutes.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Stanford, one season (2025-26 freshman): 31 GP, 35.2 MPG, 23.3 PTS, 3.6 REB, 3.6 AST, 1.7 STL on .465/.354/.832 splits — seventh in the nation in scoring, eight 30-point games (an ACC freshman single-season record), a 40-point game vs. Georgia Tech, First-Team All-ACC and ACC All-Rookie. Draft: 2026, Round 1, Pick 17 — selected by Oklahoma City, rights routed through Memphis to Detroit on draft night (note: this dossier's body says "Detroit selected Okorie 17th"; Detroit acquired the pick, it did not make it).

No NBA record. Most recent season: Stanford 2025-26 (above), plus July 2026 Summer League with Detroit (20-point debut, a 7-assist game, 27 in the finale).

Durability: 31 of Stanford's games as a freshman with a 35-minute workload; nothing on record.

Trajectory: The record is one season of elite volume scoring against ACC competition with modest but real playmaking growth (nine assists vs. UNC) and average three-point volume efficiency. In 2026-27 he competes with Daniss Jenkins for the backup creator role behind Cade Cunningham. He becomes fantasy-relevant if he wins that job outright and reaches roughly 20+ MPG — the college record says points and steals arrive first, the three-ball and efficiency are the swing skills.
