Marvin Bagley III

Marvin Bagley III is the early favorite for Denver's backup-center job, making him a high-FG, rebounds-and-points streamer whose poor FT and thin defensive production cap his nine-category ceiling.

Team: Denver Nuggets · Position: PF/C · Age during season: 27

Reported baseline

Across Washington and Dallas, Bagley averaged 10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.7 blocks in 20.0 minutes over 60 games. He shot 61.8% from the floor and 66.0% at the line.1 The Dallas half of that season contains a genuine skill change the aggregate hides: over 22 games at 21.4 minutes after the February 5 trade he shot 48.5% from three on 1.5 attempts per game (0.7 makes), and his 46.2% mark was easily the best three-point season of his career for a player who had never been a shooter.2 Thirty-three attempts is a small sample and heavy regression should be assumed, but even a partial hold changes what he is. Denver signed him to a one-year deal and then waived Jonas Valančiūnas; the July 13 depth-chart report called Bagley the favorite to back up Jokić.3 4

ESPN's dynamic snapshot ranked him 325th standard and 200th roto. The roto advantage reflects efficient FG and rebounding, but both depend on minutes and FT-volume tolerance.5

Correction 2026-07-18: 3PM raised from 0.2 to 0.4 and points from 7.4 to 7.6. The prior line projected him as the career rim-runner and ignored his Dallas stretch, where he shot 48.5% from three on 1.5 attempts per game across 22 games — a real, if small-sample, departure. The projection regresses that heavily rather than carrying it forward, but it no longer treats the attempts as noise. https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=marvin+bagley+iii+3pt+percentage+with+dallas+2025-26

9-cat per-game band: 190-230. Points: useful injury streamer because points/rebounds scale quickly. Dynasty: replaceable veteran center; Denver role matters more than long-term asset value.

Fantasy profile

Role and confidence

Bagley gets the first signed-only projection at backup center, but Denver can use Aaron Gordon, Brazile, Zeke Nnaji or DaRon Holmes II in small frontcourts. A future two-way or veteran center would lower the floor. Roster confidence high, minutes medium-low, rate medium-high, availability medium.

Durability: Never played more than 62 games in a season. 2018-19: left knee sprain cost 11 games. 2019-20: right thumb fracture on opening night plus a foot injury limited him to 13. The 43- and 48-game seasons that followed mixed injuries with rotation exile in Sacramento; 2024-25's 31 games at 8.5 MPG was role collapse (Washington bench, then a buried Memphis stint) rather than health. His 60 games in 2025-26 was his second-highest total in eight years.

Trajectory: The record shows a former No. 2 pick who settled into a clear identity: high-FG% points and rebounds in the low 20s of minutes, with no defensive stats, no assists, and poor FT% — the eight-year rate lines are remarkably flat outside the Dallas three-point blip. In 2026-27 he competes for the backup-center job behind Jokić, the best possible context for his rim-finishing. He becomes fantasy-relevant on either of two triggers: a Jokić or Gordon absence that pushes him past 20 MPG, or genuine retention of the Dallas corner three, which would lift him from FG%-streamer to a five-category deep-league piece.
