Alpha Diallo

Alpha Diallo arrives as the reigning EuroLeague Best Defender and a steals specialist, but at age 29 with an uncertain shot and no NBA baseline, his first fantasy task is simply winning a nightly role.

Team: Denver Nuggets · Position: SF/PF · NBA rookie season · Age during season: 29

Reported baseline

Diallo averaged 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 27.9 minutes over 42 EuroLeague outings in 2025-26.1 He was officially named EuroLeague Best Defender after starting all 38 regular-season games and ranking second in steals.2 Denver signed him to a guaranteed one-year contract in July.3

Correction 2026-07-18: games cut from 36 to 30 and minutes from 5 to 3, with counting stats rescaled (rates held constant), because the team desk's primary minute model now assumes Peyton Watson is retained. Hoops Rumors reported July 17 that Denver values Watson "significantly" and believes it is positioned well to keep him, with the interested teams all over the cap, so retention is the modal outcome rather than a branch. On that path Diallo is outside the competitive-game rotation entirely and his season minutes come from blowouts and injury replacement. The prior 36-game, 5-minute line survives as the Watson-departs contingency. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2026/07/nuggets-rumors-watson-joerger-roddy-diallo.html

9-cat per-game band: unranked. Points: no base-case redraft value. Dynasty: watch list rather than stash because age limits the development horizon.

Fantasy profile

Role and confidence

Diallo can defend across Denver's wing/forward gap, but Braun, Cameron Johnson and Gordon own the starting minutes, while Watson's possible return would sharply narrow the bench path. EuroLeague awards are strong real-basketball evidence and weak direct fantasy-volume evidence. Roster confidence high, minutes low, rate low, availability medium.

Career record

Pre-NBA: Four seasons at Providence (Big East), 2016-20 — 5.7 points as a freshman, then 13.2 and 6.6 rebounds, then a junior year of 16.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals leading the team in all four, and a senior year of 14.1 points and 7.8 rebounds. Second Team All-Big East in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. Six professional seasons in Europe: Lavrio (Greek Basket League) in 2020-21 at 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals, then five years with AS Monaco (2021-2026) in the French Betclic Élite and EuroLeague. In 2025-26 he started all 38 EuroLeague regular-season games at 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 27.9 minutes on roughly .501 from the field and .336 from three, ranking second in the competition at 1.34 steals per game and winning the EuroLeague Best Defender award on a vote of head coaches. Draft: undrafted (2020).

Diallo has never appeared in an NBA game; 2026-27 would be his first. His most recent professional season is the 2025-26 Monaco EuroLeague line above.

Durability: No NBA injury history to report. He started all 38 EuroLeague regular-season games in 2025-26 but missed Monaco's playoff elimination game against Olympiacos with an injury.

Trajectory: The record is of a high-usage college scorer who reshaped himself into an elite European defensive forward — the scoring stayed flat in the 12-point range across six pro seasons while the defensive value climbed to a league award. That is real basketball evidence and weak fantasy evidence: EuroLeague per-game production does not scale down cleanly to an NBA bench role, the 33.6 percent three-point rate is the specific weakness for a Denver lineup that needs shooting next to Jokić, and at 29 there is no development curve left to bet on. He is behind Braun, Cameron Johnson and Gordon, and Peyton Watson's retention would close the bench path further. He becomes fantasy-relevant only if Watson leaves and an injury hits the wing rotation, in which case the realistic payoff is a steals-and-rebounds specialist at roughly 18 minutes — a 16-team category asset, not a redraft one.
