Leonard Miller

Leonard Miller is an efficient energy forward with rebound-and-stock upside, but he must beat several former lottery picks for stable minutes.

Team context: Chicago Bulls · Research cutoff: July 18, 2026.

Role and baseline

After arriving from Minnesota, Miller averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 threes, 1.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 23.1 minutes over 27 Bulls games, shooting .555 from the field. Basketball-Reference Bulls page

Chicago acquired Miller and Rob Dillingham with four second-round picks for Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips on February 5. A June roster analysis argued that Miller had outplayed Patrick Williams, but his contract and role remain less secure than the core prospects'. AP, February 5, 2026 · Sports Illustrated, June 2026

Base rotation allocation: 8 of Chicago's exactly 240 minutes.

Correction 2026-07-18: trimmed from 10 minutes to 8 to fund Zach Collins's move into the baseline rotation after his two-year, $17 million extension. The team model still totals 240. No change to the view of Miller himself.

The 2025-26 row splits sharply by team: 19 games in Minnesota at 5.0 MPG for 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds, then 27 games in Chicago after the February 5 trade at 23.1 MPG for 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.1 threes on .555 from the field. That post-trade sample is the only stretch of his career with rotation minutes.

Durability: 17, 13 and 46 games across three seasons. The missed time is almost entirely coaching decision and G League assignment rather than injury — he spent large parts of 2023-24 and 2024-25 with Iowa in the G League while buried on a contending Minnesota roster.

Trajectory: Three years in, Miller has one meaningful NBA sample and it was productive: efficient interior finishing, real rebounding, and a three-point stroke that appeared at low volume. The career line understates him because two of the three seasons are garbage-time fragments. He enters 2026-27 competing with Patrick Williams and other forwards for the last rotation slot, and the projection here (8 minutes) assumes he loses that fight. He becomes fantasy-relevant if Chicago trades or shelves a forward ahead of him and he clears roughly 20 minutes, at which point the post-trade 11.7/5.8/1.1 line is a reasonable target rather than a fluke.
