Team context: Chicago Bulls · Research cutoff: July 18, 2026.

Role and baseline

The 23-year-old remains the starting point guard and first offensive organizer. In 2025-26 he averaged 17.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 9.1 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.9 threes in 32.1 minutes across 54 games; those scoring, rebounding, and assist marks were career highs. Amoye Favour's June 29 post-draft analysis argued that Caleb Wilson does not threaten Giddey's creation role and said to hold Giddey's ADP steady. That is an analyst opinion; Powell and Wilson may still reduce his shot volume. Athlon, June 29, 2026

Fantasy history: Season-end nine-category ranks from Basketball Monster or Hashtag are not verifiable from public sources, so no per-season rank is stated here rather than estimated. What the raw lines support: the OKC years were a category liability, because 2021-22 paired 3.2 turnovers with .419/.709 shooting, and 2023-24 was a bench-minutes season at 25.2 per game. The two Chicago seasons are the fantasy-relevant ones, and 2025-26 was clearly the best of them — 9.1 assists with 1.9 threes is a genuinely scarce combination. Points leagues rate him materially higher than categories do throughout, because rebounds and assists from a guard are worth full value there while the 3.6 turnovers and sub-.450 field goal percentage carry no penalty.

Durability: 54, 76, 80, 70, 54. The 2021-22 shortfall was hip soreness that ended his rookie season on March 27, 2022. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons were essentially clean. 2025-26 was the problem year: a left hamstring strain suffered in the third quarter against Minnesota on December 30, 2025 cost several weeks, the hamstring lingered and kept him out of Chicago's last two games, and a right ankle issue ran alongside it. He had right ankle arthroscopy on May 13, 2026, with basketball activities projected at roughly three months and a return targeted for training camp.

Trajectory: The arc is two distinct careers. In Oklahoma City he was a high-usage organizer whose role shrank as Gilgeous-Alexander and Holmgren took over, and the 2023-24 demotion to 25 minutes is the real reason his counting stats fell, not a skill decline — his per-minute rebounding and assist rates held. Chicago handed the offense back to him and the production returned immediately, then jumped again in 2025-26 when the three-point volume finally arrived: 1.0 makes per game across his first three seasons, 1.5 in 2024-25, 1.9 in 2025-26. That is the leap, and it is the one that determines whether he is a category asset or only a points-league one, because it is the only lever that offsets the turnovers. The caution is that his field goal percentage fell to a four-year low of .448 in the same season the three-point volume rose, so some of the gain is shot-diet reallocation rather than added efficiency. At 23 he is still pre-peak and the assist total has room, but two of the last five seasons ended early, and the 2026-27 case rests more on games played than on further per-game growth.
