Isaac Okoro

Isaac Okoro can still earn matchup minutes through point-of-attack defense, but his low-usage fantasy line is threatened by Chicago's prospect-first wing rotation.

Team context: Chicago Bulls · Research cutoff: July 18, 2026.

Role and baseline

Okoro started 62 of 63 games and averaged 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 1.2 threes in 26.9 minutes on .460/.795 shooting. Bulls season review · Basketball-Reference

The new depth chart is radically different. A July 2 analysis explicitly asked whether Okoro could become an odd man out behind Powell, Buzelis, and Swain. His defense is the clearest route back into the lineup. Sports Illustrated, July 2, 2026

Base rotation allocation: 6 of Chicago's exactly 240 minutes.

Correction 2026-07-18: trimmed from 8 minutes to 6 to fund Zach Collins's move into the baseline rotation after his two-year, $17 million extension. The team model still totals 240. No change to the view of Okoro himself.

Career record

Pre-NBA: One season at Auburn (2019-20): 12.9 PTS, 4.4 REB, 2.0 AST, 0.9 STL, 0.9 BLK in 31.5 minutes on .514 shooting, fourth in the SEC in field-goal percentage. He was named second-team All-SEC, SEC All-Defensive and SEC All-Freshman in the same year, a combination only six players in league history had managed. The three-point shot was the known hole in the profile. Draft: 2020, first round, fifth pick, Cleveland Cavaliers.

Durability: 67, 67, 76, 69, 55, 63. Only 2024-25 is a genuine health outlier — a left ankle sprain in November, a left knee contusion in December, then a sprained right AC joint at Brooklyn on December 16 that cost him roughly two weeks. He has never had a season-ending injury and has never played fewer than 55 games.

Trajectory: Six seasons and the shape has not changed: a legitimate point-of-attack defender whose offense is a spot-up three and little else. Usage has never risen — 9.6 points as a rookie on 32 minutes is still his career high — and the three-point rate that peaked at .391 in 2023-24 fell back to .330 in Chicago. Career .741 from the line and sub-3.0 rebounds cap the fantasy value even in a starter's minutes. Chicago's 2026 offseason pushed him behind Powell, Buzelis and Swain, and the projected six minutes reflects that. He becomes deep-league relevant only in one of two ways: an injury to Powell or Buzelis that forces 24-plus minutes, or a trade to a team that values veteran wing defense on a thin roster. Neither restores categories he has never produced.
