DeVries has zero simultaneous minutes in the Boston Celtics 240-minute model. The first row is conditional on winning a two-way; it is not included in the full-roster minute sum.
Nine-category: no redraft value; threes and FT% are the only plausible short-term specialist categories. Points: no role. Dynasty: watch-list candidate in deep leagues, with more realistic value as a future spacing connector than as a primary creator.
Why the line looks like this
DeVries averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals at Indiana in 2025-26. His career three-point mark was 35.9%, but he shot 33.3% in the final season, leaving the supposed calling card good rather than fully proven. Boston used him as a Summer League floor spacer and connector; he scored 11 points against Atlanta.
The July 14 Exhibit 10 signing gives Boston the ability to route him toward Maine. It does not solve a depth chart with Tatum, George, Gonzalez, Scheierman, Hauser, Harper and Walsh at the forward spots. DeVries needs both a roster win and multiple absences before NBA fantasy volume becomes plausible.

Category shape
- Possible strengths: threes, FT%, connective assists and low-mistake wing play.
- Swing skill: whether the jumper is elite enough to demand NBA coverage.
- Costs: limited stocks/athletic creation and no secure minutes.
- Build fit: very deep dynasty only after he wins a two-way; otherwise monitor Maine.
Floor, base, ceiling
- Floor: waived after camp and plays as an affiliate or outside Boston's system.
- Base conditional: two-way deal, eight NBA appearances at four minutes, and a larger Maine role.
- Ceiling: shooting forces a second-half call-up; 12-15 minutes can yield 1.5 threes, three rebounds and two assists, a specialist line in deep leagues.
Risk and confidence
| Component | Confidence | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Roster | Low | Exhibit 10 only at the cutoff |
| Minutes | Very low | Boston's deepest position group is wing |
| Rates | Low | College sample plus Summer League; shooting translation unsettled |
| Availability | Medium-high | No major known injury; contract gate dominates |
A two-way conversion is the first meaningful update. After that, three-point volume and defensive survivability in preseason matter more than raw scoring totals.
Career record
Pre-NBA: Five college seasons across three schools, 144 games at 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals on .428/.359/.820. Three years at Drake under his father Darian DeVries — MVC Freshman of the Year in 2021-22, then MVC Player of the Year in both 2022-23 and 2023-24, twice all-conference first team. Followed his father to West Virginia for 2024-25 and to Indiana for 2025-26. Draft: undrafted (2026); signed an Exhibit 10 with Boston on July 14, 2026.

DeVries has never appeared in an NBA game. The most recent line above is his 2025-26 season at Indiana; there is no professional record of any kind yet.
Durability: One significant absence. He injured his left shoulder early in 2024-25, played eight games, and had season-ending surgery announced February 4, 2025. Because he appeared in under 30% of West Virginia's schedule he received a medical redshirt and returned for a fifth year. He played 32 of Indiana's games in 2025-26 and was durable in all three Drake seasons (36, 34, 34).
Trajectory: The résumé is a mid-major volume scorer who has not replicated that production at high-major level — 21.6 points on 36.3% from three at Drake became 13.7 on 33.3% at Indiana, with the efficiency dropping in both jumps. That is the central problem for a player whose NBA case is entirely shooting: the label is stronger than the evidence, and the 47.3% at West Virginia is an eight-game sample not worth weighting. He is competing for a two-way or Maine affiliate slot behind a wing group that is deep and largely guaranteed. He becomes fantasy-relevant only after winning a two-way and then having multiple Boston forwards miss time simultaneously — a two-step condition, which is why the base case is zero minutes.

Open questions
- Does DeVries receive a two-way, affiliate role, or a contract elsewhere?
- Is the 33.3% final-college season noise or a warning that the elite-shooter label is too strong?
- Can he defend enough positions to stay on the floor beside Boston's stars?
