Mike Conley

Mike Conley gives Boston veteran organization rather than a fantasy role; at age 38, he is a contingent assist streamer only when the younger guards are unavailable.

Team: Boston Celtics · Guard · Age 38 · Base role: eight-minute backup point guard and locker-room organizer

Correction 2026-07-18: base raised from 4.0 MPG / 40 GP to 8.0 / 52, and the "situational, many DNPs" caveat moved out of the base and into the risk row where it belongs. Four minutes was not a usable number for a healthy veteran-minimum signing who played 18.4 MPG in 54 games for Minnesota in 2025-26 and is the only natural backup point guard on the roster. Public projections put him at 15-20 MPG (SI, CelticsBlog); this file does not go that far, because those are per-appearance reads and the same sources say he will not get much run when Boston is healthy. With Pritchard and White both starting and both able to run the offense, eight simultaneous minutes is the honest full-strength number. The raise is funded out of Ron Harper Jr.'s minutes, not the starters'.

Nine-category: undraftable in standard formats; low-turnover assists are the only streaming path. Points: reserve-only. Dynasty: no meaningful asset value outside special veteran leadership or salary-cap formats.

Why the line looks like this

Conley played 54 games for Minnesota in 2025-26 and averaged 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.6 steals in 18.4 minutes. He shot 33.5% from the field and 33.7% from three, clear evidence that the late-career decline is no longer only a minutes story. His 0.6 turnovers and 90% FT remained fantasy-friendly, but neither matters at low usage.

Boston signed him to a one-year deal after moving into a Pritchard/White primary-guard structure. The base gives him eight simultaneous competitive minutes: enough to reflect a real second-unit organizing shift, short of the 15-20 that public projections quote, because both starters are lead guards. If either sits, his organizational value can produce 18-24 minutes even though younger wings absorb more scoring.

Category shape

Floor, base, ceiling

Risk and confidence

Component Confidence Reason
Roster High Official one-year signing
Minutes Low-medium Backup point guard by default, but Pritchard and White are both lead guards; a DNP-heavy usage pattern on healthy nights is the main downside branch
Rates Medium Playmaking remains legible; shooting decline may continue
Availability Medium-low Age 38 and only 54 games in 2025-26

A healthy preseason does not by itself create value. Conley needs a visible second-unit ballhandling role or an injury ahead of him before the projection should move materially.

Durability: 1,226 games over 19 seasons, but the last decade is checkered: the 2017-18 season was lost at 12 games to Achilles/heel trouble, and Wikipedia's ledger also lists a fractured vertebra (2016) and playoff facial fractures. Sub-60-game seasons in 2015-16 (56), 2019-20 (47), 2020-21 (51), 2022-23 pre-trade (43) and 2025-26 (54). Age-38 availability should be treated as a per-week question, not a preseason one.

Trajectory: The record shows a genuine 12-year starter-grade point guard whose scoring peaked at 21.1 PPG in 2018-19 and whose 2025-26 (4.5 PTS on .335 FG in 18.4 MPG) was the first season where the rates collapsed along with the minutes. In 2026-27 he competes for Boston's second-unit organizing shift behind Pritchard and White — roughly eight honest minutes when everyone is healthy. He becomes fantasy-relevant only if one of the two lead guards misses multiple weeks, at which point his low-turnover assists and 90% FT make him a deep-league stream and nothing more.
