Correction 2026-07-18: minutes cut from 19.0 to 16.0. His 20 starts in 2025-26 were products of Tatum playing 16 games; with Tatum projected at 72 and George added, the healthy-rotation wing pool shrinks. He and Hugo Gonzalez are the two players funding the restoration of Hauser, White and Pritchard toward their 2025-26 workloads in the team's 240-minute model. This is a role judgment, not a downgrade of his rates, which are unchanged.
Nine-category: deep-league threes/FT target; immediately streamable when a starting wing sits. Points: mostly a waiver player because usage and defensive-event scoring are light. Dynasty: a useful rotation bet rather than a star bet; age and Boston's depth limit the ceiling, but shooting plus secondary passing should keep him in the league.
Why the line looks like this
Scheierman averaged 5.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 18.6 minutes over 77 games in 2025-26, shooting 39.9% from three and 90.3% from the line. The base largely preserves that role. His stronger evidence comes from 20 starts: CBS's game-log summary had him at 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 28.4 minutes. He also closed the regular season with 30 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six threes.
Those starts support an injury-path projection, not a permanent 28-minute role. Jayson Tatum and Paul George occupy the high-value forward minutes, while Hugo Gonzalez, Sam Hauser, Ron Harper Jr. and Jordan Walsh all compete for specific wing jobs. Scheierman's passing and rebounding give him more category breadth than a pure shooter, but he still needs 25-plus minutes to matter in standard formats.

Category shape
- Wins: threes, excellent FT%, useful rebounds and assists for a floor spacer, low turnovers.
- Neutral: field-goal percentage should be less harmful than in a high-usage gunner role.
- Costs: low blocks, modest steals and insufficient scoring at base minutes.
- Build fit: deep roto and streaming; especially useful when a manager needs threes without absorbing turnovers.
Floor, base, ceiling
- Floor: slides behind Gonzalez and Hauser, plays 13-15 minutes and loses even deep-league consistency.
- Base: 16 minutes with 1.3 threes, 5.4 points and a clean 2.9-rebound/1.3-assist support line.
- Ceiling: regular starter due to veteran absences; his 2025-26 start sample implies roughly 10-6-3 with two-plus threes and near one steal, a top-120 line.
Risk and confidence
| Component | Confidence | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Roster | High | Rookie-scale contract and proven rotation use |
| Minutes | Medium | Role survived 77 games, but wing hierarchy changed again |
| Rates | Medium-high | Shooting, rebounding and low-turnover passing have NBA samples |
| Availability | High | Played 77 games in 2025-26 |
Preseason starting groups matter less than whether Scheierman receives secondary pick-and-roll touches. A pure spot-up role lowers assists; regular second-side creation supports his most fantasy-friendly ceiling.

Pre-NBA: Five college seasons. South Dakota State 2019-22 (rose from 6.0/4.7/2.2 as a freshman to 16.2 PTS / 7.8 REB / 4.5 AST on .508/.469/.802 as a junior; 2022 Summit League Player of the Year), then Creighton 2022-24 (12.8/8.3/3.3 in the Elite Eight season, then 18.5 PTS / 9.0 REB / 3.9 AST on .448/.381/.876 in 2023-24; unanimous first-team All-Big East, third-team AP All-American). Durability: No injury history of note. The 31-game rookie year was a rotation decision (frequent DNP-CDs and G-League assignments), not health; he answered it with 77 games in 2025-26.
Trajectory: The record shows a five-year college producer who translated immediately as a low-usage shooter and improved everything in year two — FG% from .355 to .453, FT% to .903, and a real 20-start sample when Tatum sat. In 2026-27 he competes for the third/fourth wing job behind Tatum and George, against Gonzalez and Hauser. He becomes fantasy-relevant only when a starting wing misses time: at 25-plus minutes his start-sample line (roughly 10-6-3 with two threes) is standard-league playable; at his 16-minute base he is a deep-league threes/FT specialist.
