Kingston Flemings

Kingston Flemings is Atlanta's long-term point-guard bet, with stronger dynasty value than immediate 12-team redraft value.

Team context: Atlanta Hawks · Research cutoff: July 18, 2026.

Role and college baseline

Atlanta selected Flemings eighth after he averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.1 threes, and 1.8 turnovers in 31.7 minutes across 37 Houston games. He shot 47.6% from the field and 84.5% from the line. The FT%, passing, steals, and low turnover rate are the cleanest fantasy translation signals. The Hawks can develop him behind CJ McCollum rather than force immediate starter minutes. Summer League flashes included 14 points, nine assists, and four steals in his debut and 22 assists against only three turnovers through three games in one fan-tracked sample. Those are role clues, not NBA-rate evidence. NBA player page · Reddit Summer League thread

Career record

Pre-NBA: Brennan High School (San Antonio, Texas), then one season at Houston (2025-26). He was a consensus four-star recruit and the top-rated player in Texas — Rivals 17, 247Sports 20, ESPN 22 nationally — who committed to Houston on 2024-11-14 over Alabama, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. High school honors: Texas Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Texas Player of the Year in 2025, Jordan Brand Classic selection, Naismith All-America third team, and a school-record 873 career assists. As a Houston freshman he started all 37 games and averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks in 31.7 minutes on .476/.387/.845 splits. He was a consensus second-team All-American — the first freshman in Houston program history to earn All-America honors — plus first-team All-Big 12, Big 12 All-Freshman, and a Bob Cousy Award finalist. He set the Cougars freshman scoring record with 42 against Texas Tech on 2026-01-24 and led Houston to the Big 12 championship game and a Sweet Sixteen. Draft: 2026, first round, 8th overall, Atlanta. Not traded on draft night; Atlanta also took Zuby Ejiofor in the first round.

NBA record: none. Flemings has not played an NBA regular-season game.

2026 Summer League (Salt Lake City and Las Vegas): through four games he averaged 10.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.5 steals and roughly 1.2 blocks, shooting 31.8 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from three. His debut was 14 points, nine assists and four steals. The playmaking-to-turnover ratio was the standout and the shooting was the problem; both are four-game samples against mixed competition and neither should be weighted heavily.

Fantasy history: None. He has no NBA fantasy record of any kind. His college profile suggests the category shape most likely to translate first is assists, steals and free-throw percentage, with field-goal percentage the likely early drag — a common rookie-guard pattern that the Summer League field-goal rate did nothing to contradict.

Durability: Played and started all 37 Houston games in 2025-26 with no reported absences. No professional durability record exists. High school availability is not documented here.

Trajectory: There is exactly one season of high-level evidence, and it is unusually good for a freshman guard: a consensus second-team All-American at 18 on a Houston team built around defense and structure, which typically suppresses freshman usage rather than inflating it. The .387 from three on real volume and .845 from the line are the two numbers that most reliably survive the jump to the NBA, and they are the reason his projection carries a shooting floor his Summer League field-goal percentage does not reflect. The 5.2-to-1.8 assist-to-turnover profile in a power-conference offense is the second real signal, and it repeated in Las Vegas. What the record does not yet contain is any evidence about finishing against NBA length or defending NBA starters, and at 6-3 with a 19-year-old frame that is where the minutes ceiling will actually be set. For 2026-27 the honest position is that his fantasy value is a role question rather than a talent question: behind McCollum on a team with no urgency to rush him, the base case is 19 minutes and streaming relevance, and the path to genuine value runs through a McCollum trade or injury rather than through Flemings outplaying him in October.
