Jacob Toppin

Jacob Toppin is an athletic Summer League/camp candidate, not a confirmed member of Atlanta's 2026-27 roster.

Team context: Atlanta Hawks · Research cutoff: July 18, 2026.

Status and role

Toppin appeared on Atlanta's 2026 Summer League roster after prior two-way NBA experience. No official 2026-27 standard or two-way contract was found by the cutoff, so he is excluded from the locked 240-minute rotation. Atlanta appears to have one open two-way slot, but he is not the front-runner for it: Atlanta signed Louisville guard Isaac McKneely to an Exhibit-10 on June 25, 2026, a deal explicitly convertible to a two-way, so a contracted player is already ahead of him in that queue. Eli Ndiaye, the other returning Summer League two-way alumnus, is also uncontracted after a December 2025 torn labrum and subsequent waiver. Fantasy fit and range

Correction 2026-07-18: this file previously called the open two-way slot Toppin's "clearest path." Downgraded — Atlanta signed Isaac McKneely to a two-way-convertible Exhibit-10 on June 25, 2026, so at least one contracted candidate sits ahead of an uncontracted one. Hoops Rumors

Career record

Pre-NBA: One season at Rhode Island (2019-20: 30 GP, 18.5 MPG, 5.1 PTS, 3.9 REB, 0.5 AST, .426 FG, .245 3P, .644 FT), then three at Kentucky. He was a bench forward for two years (2020-21: 24 GP, 5.2 PTS, 3.5 REB on .444/.308/.780; 2021-22: 29 GP, 6.2 PTS, 3.2 REB on .556/.400/.745) before a full-time senior role in 2022-23: 33 GP, 31.4 MPG, 12.4 PTS, 6.8 REB, 2.2 AST on .463/.305/.664. The shooting never came, which is the through-line of the profile. Draft: undrafted (2023); signed an Exhibit 10 with New York on July 6, 2023, later converted to a two-way.

Free-throw rate is negligible across the sample and ESPN and StatMuse disagree on the 2025-26 mark, so those cells are left unfilled rather than guessed. The 2024-25 Atlanta row is a single game — the April 13, 2025 season finale against Orlando, 17 points on 6-of-12 with five threes — and is not predictive of anything.

Durability: 9, 17 and 5 NBA games in three seasons, but the games missed were assignment and roster decisions, not health, until 2025-26. On November 29, 2025 he tore the labrum in his right shoulder in a G League game for College Park against Delaware, had surgery, and was ruled out for the season. Atlanta waived him on December 15, 2025, reclaiming the two-way slot.

Trajectory: Three years of two-way status have produced 31 NBA games and no evidence he can shoot, which is the one skill that would let a 6-9 athlete stick. He is uncontracted, a year removed from shoulder surgery, and competing for a third two-way slot against a contracted Exhibit-10 signee. Fantasy relevance requires a chain of events that does not realistically complete: a contract first, then a call-up, then injuries to Atlanta's forward group deep enough to reach the last man on the roster. Treat the 17-point finale as noise, not a signal.
