The three-person trip succeeds by booking the carry-on flights and scarce timed
anchors now, then locking Lake Como, rail, holiday meals and the Rome opera on their real release
dates.

Prices
Prices are current planning inputs, not guarantees. Every purchase should be made in the
traveller's passport name from the official portal.
What to do now
Flights: reprice Delta DL184 + DL231 for exactly three adults and buy
at $1,250 each or less. Compare the $1,105 American/Aer Lingus value option only if saving $115
outweighs a four-hour-longer return. See flights and trains.
Last Supper: buy the official 09:30 English guided visit on
22 December now if three seats remain. A 21 July official Vivaticket check found no
standard-admission block of three. Arrive at 09:00 with matching ID.

Lodging: hold one refundable triple in each city. The live set and
upgrade priorities are in stays and budget.
Passports: for a 2 January 2027 Schengen departure, the legal validity
threshold is after 2 April 2027; after 2 July is the safer U.S. State Department
recommendation.
Reservation calendar
Most of this cannot be bought yet. The order below follows the release dates of the
institutions themselves.
July–September
Buy the flight and Last Supper; hold refundable lodging.
Check the Florence Duomo official calendar for a 12:45 dome slot on
27 December.
Begin a weekly rail check in September, but do not worry if inventory is absent; the
timetable changes on 13 December.
Around 29 September, begin checking Pisa for 28 December. One official
Pisa page says online tickets can open 90 days ahead, while the FAQ currently says 15 days.
Because the official pages conflict, start early and set a second hard reminder for
13 December.

October–early November
8 October: buy three adjacent Swan Lake seats for 31 December
at 18:00. Target €48 balcony rows 2–3 or €35 first gallery; skip the €580-per-person
ballet-and-hotel-dinner package.

announcement
Reserve the 24 December dinner, 25 December lunch, 1 January lunch, and a
late 31 December dinner as soon as written menus appear. Do not book the
post-opera table until the theatre publishes runtime or the restaurant agrees to hold it
flexibly.
Book one Florence bistecca dinner and one small Venetian seafood osteria.
Check Uffizi, Accademia and Vatican inventory weekly; those institutions had not published
a dependable public opening interval for these dates.
Begin weekly checks for the official Lake Como winter ferry PDF in late October.
November
Around 10–15 November: winter rail schedules should be substantially
clearer. Buy the three direct trains and verify them against the final timetable
milestone.
Rebuild the 23 December Varenna–Bellagio–Milan chain and require at least 90 minutes
before the evening Venice departure. See the Lake Como winter
day.
Confirm Seta or Nando for Bellagio lunch at 12:30 in writing.
Around mid-November: buy the 29 December Pantheon slot.
Reconfirm every holiday meal in writing: date, time, fixed-menu price,
wine/water/service inclusion, deposit, cancellation, dietary needs, and whether the table
continues to midnight on New Year's Eve.
December
1 December: buy the 08:30 Colosseum ticket for 31 December when its
30-day window opens. Named tickets and photo ID are required.
Official ticket portal ·
hours and rules
10 December: first full holiday audit—municipal transit, attraction
notices, ferry service, papal calendar, Rome's public New Year's event, and state-museum
extraordinary openings.
13 December: hard Pisa reminder if tickets were not already
released.
13 December: re-run every exact 23 December train/ferry pairing after
the timetable change; save the official PDFs.
22 December: final audit—Lake weather/ferries, rail engineering, meal
confirmations, Venice ACTV holiday service, Rome New Year's transport, We Run Rome
closures, and any security/container rules.
Search ads and look-alike ticket sites often charge large markups. The links above are the
baseline; a tour should be an intentional upgrade, not an accidental reseller purchase.

Early Varenna/Bellagio, return to Milan by 16:40, evening Venice train
Dec 24
Many places shorten hours; shops/transit may wind down
Venice interiors in the morning; sleep in Venice
Dec 25

No transfer; outdoor Venice + reserved lunch
Dec 26
National holiday; Vatican closed; holiday rail pattern
One early direct train; Accademia under standing rules
Dec 27, Sunday

Dec 28, Monday
Uffizi and Accademia closed
Pisa and Lucca day trip
Dec 31
Many civic sites close early; We Run Rome street disruption; bespoke transit
Ancient Rome first; hotel rest; controlled 18:00 opera and indoor toast
Jan 1
National holiday; Colosseum/Vatican and many museums closed
Carry a passport or government photo ID when a ticket is named.
Carry a current physical student card. The Vatican's student reduction through age 25 is not
limited to EU citizens, but many Italian state-museum youth reductions are; U.S. visitors
should budget the full price unless the official rule clearly applies.
The Last Supper admits the group for only 15 minutes and requires arrival 30 minutes
early.
The Brunelleschi Dome has 463 stairs, no lift, a strict named time, and only a short grace
period.
The three-day Brunelleschi Pass also covers Giotto's Bell Tower; use it on 29 December
rather than stacking the two Florence climbs.
Pisa requires tower bags in its cloakroom and refuses late arrivals.
Lake ferries can suspend for wind/waves and ordinary tickets do not guarantee capacity on
one specific sailing; reach the dock 20 minutes early.
Colosseum tickets open exactly 30 days ahead and use passport-exact names.
High-speed rail tickets are assigned-train reservations; regional tickets follow separate
validation rules.
Holiday meal checklist
Ask each restaurant in writing:
Is the meal à la carte or fixed menu?
What is the exact per-person price?
Are water, wine, cover/service, midnight toast and entertainment included?
What is the deposit and cancellation policy?
For 31 December, will the restaurant seat the group after the opera and keep the table
through midnight?
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
What is the dress code?
Buy breakfast supplies, water, fruit and emergency sandwiches before late afternoon on
24 December and 31 December.
